I noticed that the only option is for using GXP or XP for pilot upgrades. It would be nice to be able to combine them. Is that as intended ?? I would prefer the option to use mech XP first then supplement with GXP....

I would like to be able to exchange XP points for GXP points but not use MC.

You can convert XP to GXP for a hefty sum of MC. This is intended.

There needs to be a way to use excess XP without having to spend MC.

I wouldn't mind a form of Mech XP to General XP conversion at an extreme rate of course like 10,000 mech XP to 10 General XP.
The issue is any kind of mech XP to general XP conversion is you run the risk of individuals who will abuse this system and general XP is a very valuable thing.

I was think of a 100 to 1 ratio. But as long as they have the option I work with it.

You can only convert XP from a Mech that has all 8 Basic perks unlocked.
After that, it's in the top right of the pilot lab above the Basic perk list and right under the XP counter.

I concur. There should be a way to use that XP without using real world cash. It seems like another cash grab to me. A lot of things about this game seem like they are going to make it cost more than your average console game for the experience. I paid 60 and I don't regret it. If this was a sequel to MW4, I.E. MW5, produced by Microsoft, I would have paid 60 for every mech in the game. My 60 here ($80 worth of MC) gets me a few mechs and mechbays. There seems to be more cash grabbing here than on your average FTP.

Sucks having to unlock basic skills on 3 variants before getting to Elite skills. Sucks even more having to spend MC. So I either buy 3 different Atlas or I spend money to get MC... Doesn't seem fair.

Gents no. F2P games survive on micro transactions, otherwise how will the makers afford thier wages for thier staff and thier bills for thier premises and equipment running the game. They need money to pay for development and keep content coming out to you.
Because you can play without buying the game and play for free forever if you so chose, they need to have a few options available to give cash injections back into the business to keep them in the pocket and us with content. WOT is another game I play that works exactly the same. Without premium accounts, mech bays, XP conversion and Hero mechs that cost real world money MWO would not exist.

LoL survives on champs (hero mechs/ mechs) skins (paint/camo) and Boosts to ip earnings (boosts to MC/XP)
So how is it that you believe they will lose out on money if they allow you to use c-bills to convert? Beacuse right now the "Pay for Convience" seems pretty over ******* whelming when i have to farm for years just to get 5,000 GXP for one module unlock

Only if you consider it farming.
Since all of the current modules suck, I'm free to save up the GXP I get from, you know, playing the game normally in case they release one that doesn't suck in the future (eg, multi-target).
