In the General Discussion page in the 100 ton poll page, there's a bonus vote concerning the Banshee, which according to approximate in-time universe presently is the only 95 tonner in existence (the Nightstar DID show up as well, but was lost due to the Succession Wars, and therefore wasn't released until TRO: 3058). Because of this fact, I believe it would be a useful and popular distraction mech due to its drastically low armament for an assault mech. Which gives reason to believe that most people wouldn't pay much attention to it on the battlefield, but would rather instead be focused on many more greater threats and then it would be the last, easy finish. However, if the people using the Banshee and their comrades play smart, and if its in the right hands, it can be very useful and helpful to those who prefer a distracting type of strategy. I'm in full support of this mech coming about if the devs are currently in the planning stage with this mech, and I fully encourage anyone else who shares this same desire and hope to speak up in this thread! This is a suggestion thread, NOT an objection thread.

As soon as the Banshee chassis goes on sale in-game, people will start mech-labbing it. Once that happens, it'll become too dangerous to ignore. The same could be said for Battletech's other 2 paperweights: Charger & Urbanmech. And if any kind of melee combat is included, even just charge attacks, the Banshee is lethal. I'd like to see it in the game, but....
I like the Banshee's uniqueness. I don't want to see it becoming a poor man's Atlas. But since we don't really know anything about the mech-lab yet, I don't know how that could be preserved.

I'm with Soviet Alex. The first thing anyone would do is shove the Banshee into the Mech Lab, and I'm not talking about a paint job, here. The devs have already said the engine speeds will be optional, so you drop the speed down to 30 km/h and you're in business. Retain the PPC, upgrade the Autocannon and then start adding heatsinks and additional support weapons.

That's precisely what the Steiner variant is. A smaller engine to free up tonnage for a shed-load more weapons. Can we assume that the mech-lab will enable us to recreate canon variants which haven't been programmed into the game yet?
