In the tutorial, I noted they describe controlling the mechs side to side view with the mouse. I am wondering will I be able to use a joystick with this game? Also will all the hot keys be programmable?

Joystick is in, though not very well, yes fully programmable hotkeys. Joystick is still a work in progress however.

I really hope that this feature is given priority soon.... It will make control soooooo much easier. Besides, my finger gets tired easily sliding on my mouse pad. DEVS! We WANT JOYSTICKS!!! :0). Other wise, gat jibe with all the recent improvements. The game play has really changed. Don't see hardly any fire support cats these days!

You will see him and the rest of his premade group in battle on Monday, try not to get frustrated being repeatedly killed match after match.

Anyway, my joystick works fine. If you have a Saitek, I'm pretty sure it will work (any programmable model).

I have attempted to use a Saitek Yoke and Throttle Quadrant with the closed Beta, and during setup, I tried to set the throttle to it's relative lever. Unfortunately, it seems Controller Axis values are not applicable for this game (at the closed Beta) or I have not been able to figure it out. ;)

Either way, I also have a Saitek HoTaS that I might try later today.

I will reply with my final results.
