I just cant seem to group weaponsin this game. I have remapped the 'arrow' keys to my controls and mapped some other keys for the grouping selection. I can cycle up and down the list in game but I cant assign anything.
Maybe I am missing something. PLease help!

EDIT - missed that you said you remapped the selection key... hmmm... not sure... never remapped it myself, use the default right ctrl for it and no problems here...
re-EDIT - notice you got your Founder Tag too...!!... congrats!!

File a ticket if you can't actually re-map the right-ctrl function.

I will figure out the grouping issue. Might take me a while though.
Thanks for all your help.

A quick walk through, seperating your short range weapon from your long range.
Default set up for new mech, 1 being the primary alpha attack. Bolded 1 = on
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 LRM 10
To change the group, you hit the down key twice to LRM. Underline = Selected weapon
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 LRM 10
First, remove the LRM from the medium laser group. Hit right control key, the 1 number is toggled off (no longer bold).
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 LRM 10
Now, hit the right arrow key to move over to the 3. Hit right control key, group is toggled to third mouse key (basicly side buttons on mouse).
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 LRM 10
Now, for a bonus. Hit the up key once and highlight the second medium laser. Then hit the arrow key to set the second medium laser to 2.
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 Medium Laser
1 2 3 LRM 10
Now your mech is set to alpha strike with the medium lasers, while firing the LRM in an off key. This is because at the range you are using the LRM you will generally not be firing the medium laser unless really close. But in case you are going to over heat, you can now selet your right mouse button (the secondary weapon group) to fire just 1 medium laser in case you are starting to over heat or seperate your torso lasers from the arm lasers..arms have a wide and very sensitive tracking ability while the torso are basicly what you are looking at directly in the center hud.

No and it is a shame. I use a joystick to play have unmapped almost all of the keyboard commands. One of the exceptions is that I mapped the number pad arrow keys and number 0 (INS) to manipulate the weapon groups, just after the match starts. You only have to do it once per mech, it saves the settings. One you get used to the weapon mapping system it's pretty fast.
Backspace toggles chainfire and that isn't in the controls section , but it does function.

Left click = fire group 1 (useualy my standard shooting without worrying to much about heat/or all arm weapons, depending on the mech*)
Right click = fire group 2 (if at least 1.27 on my heat in the mechlab, I use as my alpha strike, otherwise it's a chainfire of group 1/or all torso weapons, depending on the mech*)
Middle mouse button = fire group 3 (for LRMs)
Left thumb = Toggle Night Vision
Right pinky = Toggle Thermal Vision
*for an alpha strike in this configuration i simply press both mouse buttons
I know a lot of Mechwarriors keep their configurations a secret to give them an advantage in play, but I think this wont be giving too much away and still give beginners some insight on how much customization there is in the game.
