I know that feeling. I was 9 or 10 and I spent my allowance on minis and map packs. It was a deep cut when FASA went under and sold the rights to Wizkids. MW:Dark Age was a kick in the sternum.

If you're 26 now then you weren't even born yet when Battletech was released, and way too young when the following box and book releases came in the late 80s. :P So you didn't get to know the feeling of enjoying Battletech releases on the cutting edge at the time. But hey, at least you can enjoy MWO on the cutting edge today! ;)

Reading is one thing I'm good at. I read Jurassic Park when I was in 7th grade. Language comprehension is my strong suit. The internet (still brand new in 1995) let me find what wasn't available at the hobby shop (mine was called Pilands, its out of business now) because in small town USA they stocked Magic cards and comics. Everything BT oriented had to be catalog ordered, from novels to minis to technical readouts. Decision at Thunder Rift was the first book I read, and I was instantly hooked. Granted when I read it, the Twilight of the Clans series was being released, but I caught up quick ;) Imagine my excitement when Mechwarrior 2 was released on PC and Playstation.

That was an awesome release. MW2 and MW3 really revitalized it for me. Before that, BT Crescent Hawk Inception's was the original spark to move from tabletop to the PC.

Haha I remember Mechwarrior 3050 on SNES and thought it was the greatest game of all time, up there with Zelda and TMNT: Turtles in Time.

lol, you caught me. I awaken but every 10 years to mash on some MW, and only return to my slumber after I've sated my need for mech destruction.

Imagine what the unmitigated success of this game will bring in another decade's time. MW 3050 WAS the bomb back then, and this is the bomb, soon, so what will this lead to, later?

I'm hoping a vibrant community that pours as much of its heart and soul into this as the Developers, who are responsive to the whims of the players and add plenty of variety (Mechs, weapons, play modes, maps, and scenarios) that will keep this game fresh and fun for years.

When and where are these BT conventions with hot chicks?

Apparently, depending upon your locale, there might be a ton of them: http://bg.battletech...p?topic=16012.0

But I doubt many "hot chicks" would be there, lol. All of my battletech tabletop casual and tournament gameplay have been all guys. There was one time when a woman joined us, but she wasn't "hot" by any means, lol. And of course some girlfriends now and then who seem completely uninterested and drug to these games against their will because the boyfriend took her to the mall earlier.

Pretty Husky for a Puppy!

23 pages and not a single face I recognize. I know the community is large, but I'd have thought I'd have seen one face I knew!

Me and my Daughter(The one from Merc Handbook!)... bout a decade ago. I look the same just a bit more grey!
