Alright, so seeing that we're about to get a huge influx of new players, I felt like we could use one of these. Now, I know MWO has their own tutorial videos, but this one isn't really a tutorial as much as it is a guide to survival. I worked pretty hard on it, and I think it's good enough, but give me your opinions anyway. It's really long, but it explains everything I know how to explain. If I messed up or missed anything, tell me so I can add it ot the description or put it in annotations. This is in the hope that it actually helps new players get acquainted with the game.

So there it is, tell me what you think. (And if it's good keep it on the front page?)
Also, if you want me to include your team's website in the description, just tell me what it is.

Going to sleep soon, so it's up top you guys to bump it.

Just some criticism, the listing off of all the harpoints for each mech variant is very unnecessary, especially because you list them off before you even explain how the mechlab works, so a new player probably has no idea what you're talking about, and unless they were writing down everything you said, they'll probably end up having to go back to remember what you said. You can also just point out the data field in the mechlab that shows all the hardpoints on the mech, which would have saved a lot of time (about 9 minutes).

^

Instead of listing of each hardpoint and where it is, give a total count an a general idea for what kind of mech it is. I.e This is a light mech with lots of rooms for lasers, or this is a heavy mech with a large missle bay for LRMS.

Still a good video, may help someone out there.

I considered that myself, the original idea was to give players a scope of what each mech could do when they see them in game, as they'll probably go up against all of the variants before they ever get to purchase their own. I'll add in an annotation to skip that part in the morning, the guide is really just a big information block, I think I probably could have ordered it a little better.

You should check out Kevin MacLeod if you plan to make more videos. He has a ton of royalty free movie quality music you can use for videos. He is an unsung hero unsung youtubers. Also if this is something you would like to continue doing and want some help. I would be happy to lend a hand with overlay graphics for intros and stuff.

I had planned on making intro videos as well but I can not trouble shoot the lower framerate when I record. Not sure what the deal is. My PC should have no issues. Ah well.

one thing i would criticize : while you are explaining the weapon grouping, i would have SHOWN it actually... describing it while showing a fighting mech is not optimal i would say^^

but other wise, i guess the work you made here will be much appreciated^^

Good effort Luke. Have to agree, move the hard points to the end or just point them to ohmwreckers guide for the different variants hardpoints. Another good suggestion was to show setting the weapon groups. Discussing the aiming reticle is good, the crosshairs is where ballistics will go to and the little o with a tail is where your arms energy weps will fire. Hard to get a clean and concise video of the basics but definitely a good start.

I might take you up on this.

My D:/ Drive is actually completely full, and I used every video in there, I guess I should record after I know what footage I need. This was something that I really could have used.

You will be allowed in on that account.

Adding annotations for this stuff now. I also completely forgot about the cross-hairs. So much stuff in this game.

Alright I've finished annotating the video, you can now chose to skip the chassis section and come back later. I also added a few text bubbles on the weapons selection and targeting parts that will hopefully confuse people less. Thanks for all the feedback, I think I might try this again when the game launches, so we'll see if I get it right then. For now I'll continue to update this one, tell me if you guys see anything else.
