I'll start buy saying i know a demo of a game isn't inovative "but" this use of a demo is. You are releasing your game to the public today you are calling it a open beta if this was going to be a pay 2 play model no problem the it's still beta thing would work. But it's a f2p model so that open beta means released. Here is the idea to keep the complainers at bay simply market this release as a expanding demo phase . This changes the perception of what you are doing. That and you can spin the fact you arn't even at 25% of where you said you wanted to be at open beta buy simply saying . We are releasing this expanding demo to the world as we finish up the rest of the systems ingame we want before the open beta starts. We are doing this because of ...... bs goes here....... If you would do this idea in some form ( just remember demo insted of beta) you get to claim your inovators since this hasn't been done in the f2p market place. There ya go a way out of the poo storm that makes you look even better and gives you alot of points from your fans.

I like the concept but I think the labeling of it would be a bit confusing for the average person. It's open beta but I agree that in its current format it is now officially released with more content coming. Open beta implies beta but with them taking transactions and money this is in fact a commercial release at this point. I think they'll definitely need to ramp up the roll outs with hotfixes, patches, and content now that they've taken this step but a little PR helping to explain they've got plenty of stuff coming in the following weeks would definitely help keep players from feeling jilted and keep them interested in the product as a whole
