I actually ran my i7 & Q6600 boxes for this for awhile for another (non-SA) forums community, when they were attempting to hit a record.


I'd be surprised if the number of goons running FAH clients was higher than tech forums like [H], in the same way that I'd be surprised if tech forums would match SA members in overall direct charity aid.

The current folding@home team "SAGoons" currently holds a rank of 43rd in the world (13th in the world by work done). It is hard to speculate as to what, if any, effect an influx of new processing power would have on our rank. #1 has 20 times the points that the SAGoons team does, and 5 times the amount of work units completed.

Let's be honest though, if we got Goon Fleet^TM involved, we'd be number 1 with a bullet laser.

No, I assure you, it is quite impossible. There are rules in place. The rules state that we do not seek further pilots. Further pilots will be found without seeking. If you do not know how to become a goon (or even what a goon is outside of the context of the Word of Lowtax, as demonstrated by the post immediately preceding) it will be impossible for you to join. If you think that "goon" just means "member of the Word of Lowtax", you are incorrect. If someone tells you, as fil5000 mentioned above, that they can circumvent the rules and get you into the Word, they are wrong. If they want payment or service for this task, they are wrong and are scamming you.

Here is how to make entry to the World of Lowtax, in the manner of a good and honest man or woman.

First, learn of the goonish nature, how the open hand donates to charity, how the closed hand ruins another person's day. Learn that these are the same hand. When your understanding is such that factive headmates are of no import, when you understand that not posting and never not posting are the same thing, embrace the goonish nature. Tenbux. Tenbux, tenbux, tenbux. Meditate on and practice the tao every day. Do not post. Never not post. When your newbird nature is strong, you will climb the mountain to be tested by Walter. You may be tested many times before you hear The Word.

How do I know that what you are saying is just a way for you to not say anything? How do I not know this might be exactly the way to join? So until I know otherwise I will continue to ask until someone in authority other than you tells me that it is impossible. Since I actually do believe there is a way to join, BTW rules are meant to be broken, thats why they are called rules.

Ok, I'll spill the beans. How to join Word of Lowtax:
1. Be a goon. As you claim to be neither ignorant nor stupid, you can figure this out. We believe in you.
2. Dont make an *** of yourself. Youre not doing so hot on that one.
3. Dont become a goon just to play with us. With two (technically 3) very notable exceptions this has not worked out well. Since this is your stated intention, we probably wont let you in even if you succeed in 1 and 2.

As a long time "Goon" with a regdate of '03 I can tell you with heartfelt honesty and compassion, as well as irrefutable scientific evidence to bolster my words, that there is literally no fuggin' way you can join the Word of Lowtax. Just give up on that notion right here and now.

However - that is the stone cold truth only due to one thing. You are not a "Goon".
