Anyone know what the max engine sizes will be for the Trebuchet?

Thanks

Ask us next week, after its been released. Until then, all guesswork.

My guess is biggest engine anywhere from 250-290, with some/all variants having access to jump jets

it's a 50 ton mech, so whatever the hunch can mount.

250

But it's built to be faster than hunch and cent, so maybe a grade above them? (if they translate that quirk into the game)

5N/J + 7K/M - 325
3C - 390

J & M have JJs

Assuming all engine rules are followed 1.3 x stock rating.

There are two limits for max engine sizes in MWO, and the mech gets whichever is the smaller. The first is that a mech can't have an engine larger than 8.5*tonnage, which thanks to how the speed equation works out imposes an effective speed cap of ~150 kph after tweak. The second is that a mech can't have an engine larger than multiplier*stock engine, where multiplier is 1.4 for lights, 1.3 for mediums, and 1.2 for heavies/assaults.

Applying this to the treb, the 8.5*tonnage limitation is irrelevant for this tonnage since engines don't go above 400. For the trebs that come with 250 engines, the other restriction limits them to a 325 max. For the one that comes with a 300 engine, it's limited to a 390 max.

250x 1.3 = 325. There you go.

325.

Thanks, I couldn't find an equation/explanation. This is good news now that my XL320(from the Cicada) will fit!

The treb is gonna be a copycat of the hunch. It shares the same basic loadouts and hardpoints.

I am somewhat disappointed this is coming.

In the same way the Raven and Jenner have the same loadout and hardpoints right?

You have a good point, two of the variants have more or less the same hardpoints as the HBK-4SP. However, those variants have some major differences (one is very fast and one has JJs) while the other variants have significantly different hardpoints.

Keep in mind that an XL320 can fit 2 internal heatsinks while an XL325 can fit 3. The upgrade only costs 1/2 ton and it frees up room for another heatsink (or FF armor if it works out that way).

I look forward to the jumpjets, we def need a medium with those, but the XL engine i dont see as an advantage, a medium with an XL is just asking for a single lucky alpha strike to remove him from the match.

They could have picked out a 45 or 55 tonner that would do something different though. Maybe the design will simply look cool enough to play.
