my unit has having issues getting this game to even log in at times
all the members having crash on login / crash on launch problems are running windows 8
we all use mumble for our comms and discovered if you dissable the mumble overlay (the part that shows who is talking on screen) all of those issues vanish

My unit uses mumble and no one has reported any of those issues. But no one I know is running Windows 8.

I have been playing with win8 in beta since July and it runs great no issues with it.Even teamspeak overlay doesn't work well so it's some issue with overlay in general. With win8 it actually runs more efficient . Win8 will take a lot of getting used to as metro is.kinda.lame but the os handles games well, I have not had issue with any game YET LOL

I picked up a copy of win8 RC just to take a look at it before it went live and they kill the key. Have to say win8 interface sucks.. want my pc to be a pc .. like the normal Win XP, Win 7 desktops. The other reason I went to WIn 8 was it was a fresh clean platform to play on. The Game worked fine except for the fact I have older hardware and getting low FPS down around 11 @ first.. managed to get thing up to about 25 here now but it drops back to 11 from time to time in heavy fights.

I have all the other issues going on Game lockups, Black Screens on Drop, 4 FPS session where you can't move/target.

I've tried various little tweaks here and not getting improvements to be able to play normal.

When I first installed MWO, it defaulted to High video settings. I had gone thru on High, Medium, and Low with no difference in FPS initially after tweaking around going onto High did produce lower FPS once I was getting about 25 here on Medium and Low.

The lockups and poor FPS are a core issue if they want this game to succeed and I know I do.. I miss playing from way back when Electronic Arts had a beta Battletech version.

If a program runs in Win 7, it also runs in Win 8/Win 8 Pro. You just can't play on Windows RT.

To make Win8 good, install Classic Shell, and just use desktop versions of software.
