I'm pretty sure that we getting more then 12 mechs on launch, just because the mechs that have been chosen are odd choices for a 12 mech line up.

3 of them (Dragon, Jenner and Commando) are pretty much faction exclusive. If we were only going to have 12 mechs then we certainly wouldn't see the dragon in the starting 12 and I don't think the commando would make the cut either.

Like many other I would rather have 12 really well put together mechs then a greater number of less well thoughout and put together mechs

My theory is that we will see 16-20 mechs on release with a bias towards heavy and medium designs (so for 16 - 3 lights/5 mediums/5 heavies/ 3 Assault - 20 5 lights/6 mediums/ 6 Heavy/ 5 Assault etc), there will also probably be some Unseen/Reseen mechs in the mix.

Given that the thread is about what mechs we will see on release here is the 20 that I think will make it.

Lights (4)
- Locust (Unseen/Reseen but from crusher Joe so I would imagine it will make the cut given that the leopard is in)
- Commando
- Spider
- Jenner

Mediums (6)
- Clint (could also be a Hermes II I make it 50% either way)
- Vindicator
- Centurion
- Hunchback
- Trebuchet
- Shadowhawk (Unseen/Reseen but from Dougram and could be Griffin or Wolverine as well)

Heavies (6)
- Dragon
- Quickdraw
- Catapult
- Thunderbolt (Unseen/Reseen but from Dougram)
- Jagermech
- Orion

Assaults (4)
- Awesome
- Zeus
- Stalker
- Atlas

It would be nice to substitute a Warhammer for the quick draw but I'm not sure if we will see the Macros based mechs in the game.

Nice line-up. I all makes pretty good sense, but I'm kind of surprised by the Spider - what brought about that choice?

I'm not sure what they're actually shooting for in terms of launch numbers, but the clan invasion starts before summer is even over. So even if we had 12 at launch, that number would start to expand.

MW2 had 15 mechs, MW3 had 18 mechs, MW4 had 21 -- See a pattern? Increasing by three each time. Tell the devs they need to give us 24 mechs at launch in the spirit of mechwarrior. :)

MW2: Mercs had 62 mechs so there is no pattern :)

I'm cool with however many mech chassis they start with. I'd love to see the following added, whether by launch or sometime after launch:

Wasp, Firestarter, Blackjack, Rifelman, Warhammer, Marauder, Battlemaster and Cyclops.

Eventually: (Masakari, Ryoken, Raven, Fenris, Templar, Uller, Daishi, Mauler, Black Knight, Loki/Hellbringer, Vulture, Wolfhound)

[sarcasm] Because I'd rather not play a game with 96 mechs at 16 bit resolution... [/sarcasm]

Are you a student? Or perhaps you were at one point in your life so I'll use that as an example:

Your assignment is to write a 96 page essay for me on the subject of modern war tactics. It is due in 6 days. After that you'll have another 96 page essay due 6 days after that. And so on for the next 96 essays.

The net is that 1 single mech is a laborious labor of love and I'm sure each single mech can take a month (likely more) to get anywhere near usable in game.

Here are my predictions:

20 - Thorn, Mercury
25 - Mongoose
30 - Urbanmech, Firefly
35 - Wolfhound
40 - Whitworth, Sentinel
45 - Vindicator, Blackjack
55 - Trebuchet, Dervish
60 - Quickdraw
65 - Jagermech
70 - Grasshopper, Cataphract*
75 - Orion, Flashman
80 - Victor
85 - Stalker, Crockett/Katana
90 - Highlander, Mauler*
100 - Annihilator

(Choices in bold are 'mechs I suspect may already be included, due to their conspicuous absence in polls. 'Mechs with an asterisk* have no non-LostTech variants, but I suspect they may make it in anyway.)
These are predictions. I prefer the Javelin and Hussar to the Urbanmech and Firefly, but I think the Urbie and Firefly have more distinctive roles. Likewise, I prefer the Guillotine to the Grasshopper, but the two are too similar, and I'm pretty sure the Grasshopper is already in, and while I prefer the Zeus to the Victor, the Zeus and Awesome perform similar battlefield roles and have similar load-outs, while the Victor brings something new.

Just the opposite for me, Grasshopper is one of my favorite mechs from 3025 (pre-Clan), so I really hope it makes it... you're only basing the fact that you believe it's already in on the fact that it's not in any polls? Are they polls run by the Admins (which I agree makes it more likely) or polls by anyone else (which wouldn't make any difference)?
