I've loved MW for a long time but I've never gotten into any of the actual extended universe.

I've been surfing this forum for a while and now I need to read some extended universe books. I was hoping to get some recommendations on where to start and what some of the good books/authors are. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Warrior Trilogy is generally a good place to start.

vol 1 - Warrior: En Guarde
vol 2 - Warrior: Riposte
vol 3 - Warrior: Coupe

First BattleTechWiki is a great sight with allot of information. Here is a list of Novels and Source Books. This is a list of Text Only source books circa 3025.

I would suggest starting with The Warrior Trilogy. The series was re-release on e-book. "The Warrior Trilogy, by Michael A. Stackpole, is about the events before and during the Fourth Succession War. The main acts are the wedding of Hanse Davion and Melissa Steiner, the experiences of Justin Xiang on Solaris VII and as spy on Sian, the vendetta between Morgan Kell and Yorinaga Kurita, the machinations of Michael Hasek-Davion and of subversive elements inside the Steiner nobility, ComStar's secret manipulations and of course the most important battles of the war. "

I would then suggest the Blood Of Kerensky trilogy. this talks about the Clan Invasion.
The truth is that there are so many great novels.

Thanks for the posts guys, I'll probably start with the warrior triology and go from there since it's already been recommended twice.

I would also suggest Heir to the Dragon (Talks about Theodore Kurita), Decision at Thunder Rift (is the first book of the Saga of the Gray Death Legion), Way of the Clans (is the first book in the Legend of the Jade Phoenix trilogy), Far Country (Most BT Fans do not like this one. I found it interesting.

Just remember to take it one step at a time as there is a great deal to get thru. I suggest that you focus onthe books that predate the clans to get a good grasp on the situation in the IS at launch. This is a lot like history: it helps to start at the beginning.

I too had the misfortune of seeing this book. I read the description and left it be on the shelf where I found it. It is the only Battletech book I have found that I did not purchase.

Come on, Fernes Land is nothing compared to reading Höhenflug thinking it's a regular battletech novel.
(Heyne published no limits like just another novel in the line)

At first you're like "Ok, wrong year... on terra... mhh.. must be a char watching history channel or something.", but then it just goes on and on and
Spoiler

So, after reading what is essentially an adventure/espionage novel, you're treated to a universe that is Battletech, but ... the writing feels different.
