I love to grill out, and I was wondering what do you like to grill, eat, and drink on this special day with your family and friends.
Do you have any recipes you would like to share for burgers, and/or snacks? Anyone BBQ or smoke their meats? Got a recipe even for a dip or home made sangria? Please share those and more!
Sure I was looking on the internet, but I was wondering if any of my fellow Americans, would like to share their ideas and recipes. Thanks and Happy 236th Birthday USA and Semper Fi!
Here is my recipe for grilled sweet potatoe fries:
Things you will need:
4-5 Sweet Potatoes
Kosher Salt
Garlic Powder and/or other seasonings as desired
EVOO(Extra Virgini Olive Oil
Charcoal or Gas Grill *For Charcol Grills I suggest a chimney starter for the sake of efficiency
Grill Topper or Grate or Basket
Drinks to stay cool

Fire up your grill now to get it hot, especially if you have a charcoal girll.
You will need 4-5 sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water. Pinch of salt and boil for 10 minutes and not much more. You don't want them to soft. Carefully take them out with tongs and put them on a plate to cool off for a few minutes. If you want you can cover with a cloth towel thats been dipped in ice cold water, and hand rung. After wards with a cutting board and knife cut each potatoe in half, and then to quarters and so forth as desired.
Place fries on a large cooksheet or square cooking pan. Drizzle the fries with EVOO(Extra Virgin Olive Oil). With some long metal tongs place the fries on the grill topper or basket. Depending on your grill, especially some of the newer ones you can go without grill toppers or baskets.
Now place on grill, and sprikle with the kosher salt as desired. With your tongs turn over after 10 minutes or longer per your judgement. You don't need to cook on each side since these are fries so again use your judgement. I go for about 10 minutes on a hot grill and flip once and then done.
If you are cooking other things such as burgers on a two rack grill, I suggest putting them up on the second rack, if not put them on the grill thats not over direct flame. This is so they stay hot,but not overcooked. While still on the girll, but not over direct flame is a good time to sprinkle with the garlic powder or desired seasoning. Serve with drinks and anything else you are cooking out and enjoy!
