I played quite a few games last night and the experience was mostly positive.

I also played against some groups that worked together, but of course was impossible to tell if they were premades or not. Some of them my team thwarted, some not. There were three games where it was actually a pugstomp (one I attribute to a trial player imbalance vs founders), but those were by far the exception. One notable game had an enemy insisting my team was a premade when we really were not. He laid out his plan in public chat, and my group of random people countered that as a cohesive group, which was pretty nice to see.

There were a lot of suiciders and people running in circles to farm cbills. I would say at least one in 2/3 games. Most of those games, they didn't make much of a difference, but that was just luck. It is an actual problem, imo, people joining just to screw over their own team. You find that in any game, but nowhere near the amount of people that are doing it currently to farm.

I also had the usual issues with hit detection. The most egregious: I was against a Jenner that had overheated and I stopped in front of him to shoot 4 lasers into his center torso, resulting in absolutely no damage. It should have killed him, but ultimately it didn't matter as I just killed him 5 seconds later when my shot did actually register.

Despite all that, I had a lot of fun. I had some great duels (winning and losing) with other pilots, had some great tactical battles going back and forth, and some very fun all out brawls. There were a couple matches that were really close, coming down to the last 2-3 guys, and one where my team was up 4-0 but ultimately ended up losing after being wiped out by the remainder.

I kept wanting to start another match just to fight mechs, not get money to buy another mech. Granted, premium and founders doesn't give me a realistic view of the grind, but even if I gained 50% of what I did, it would still be fun.

Thankyou PGI for what you have done. It is far from perfect, but the core experience is there and I'm still enjoying it even after all the time I played in closed beta, despite the issues.

Wow and I thought I was the only who had a good first day of OB. Now, my experience was a little more lopsided (me being the stompee), but there were a couple of matches that were downright epic. I played one quick one this morning before work, that I thought for sure would make me late. In the good matches, my fellow puggles and I laid out a good plan of attack and executed them well. A few of the matches were against premades and two of them resulted in the premades commenting on the stiff resistance.

The reset didn't really bother me either. I'm actually content to be playing in a rented Centurion, doing OK and being able to pocket all of the booty. While I can't wait to get back into a custom ride, I made the mistake of tricking out a Dragon after the last reset without really considering the repair costs for all those bells and whistles. I was losing money faster than an inept gambler in Vegas. (10, 9 for 19 ... Hit Me!)

If they could solve the matchmaking issue, some of the niggling technical glitches and lower repair/rearm costs a touch, I'd be in MWO heaven.

Dont forget some Mechs are crashed to desktop pilots left running in circles in the heat of battle.
