Right here when running the ol' brawling Awesome-8R and the 2 sides spend a lot of time sniping each other. One good charge may kill me but also distracts the enemy to get rolled.

I'm hoping voice chat gets integrated so the whole PUG team can chat at Launch. Survivalists will benefit and we'll see some more awesome matches.
This.
I get it - use Teamspeak... although even that is far more complex than one can expect from the average player who probably hasn't even read the forums or checked out the tutorial before dropping in his 1st match. But even with Teamspeak working perfectly, I still can't talk quickly or effectively to the non-premade part of the team. Yes, I've learned to type fast in this game - or die trying - and, yes, communication doesn't mean the PUG's will listen or follow any of it, but it would be so much easier if Voice was integrated in the game. It'll probably never happen, but I still wish it would. Oh, but if it does happen, just give us easy to use mute buttons!

i just did that today with my freebie cent. was waiting on the saddle in crimson while the usual sniping/lrming went on. one group went to flank and when they got in position told the saddle folk to push. everyone just stood there, the heavy/assaults in the back.
we lost a couple and they asked again, no one was moving so finally i just typed "i'm going in- Banzai!" and charged over the ridge straight at the first mech i hapeppened to see, someone ran past to other mechs off the the side who didn;t take a shot and finished off whatever it was i was charging (lrms were still coming in over me to soften it up beforehand.). clicked on the next mech and was now behind them all as they finally started taking shots at me and saw a friendly jenner poking away at something, went over to help finish it off and got/stole a kill there.
then i kinda ran into the battlemaster and wedged myself on the side of a bulding while trying to circle it and got blown to bits. i died but took out a couple, broke up their lines a bit and had them facing me for when the rest of the saddle squad peeked over the ridge and finally came over themselves to finish them off as the flankers joined up with us as well and crushed them in between. we ended up winning 12-5 or so. was down 2-1 when i Leeroy'd
sometimes Leeroy actually works.

I have yet to see a single match where there isn't at least 1-3 partial premade lances (under 4 units) on both sides and about 50% of all matches seem to have full lances on both sides. They are always playing their own game and view the pug as part of the challenge on THEIR side as well as the other.
Often statements like "we gotta try and keep the PuG alive" is made in their teamspeak. They also \try to herd the cats away from obvious loss magnets like Terra Derpa's PuG Zapper or the Alamo Cauldera on Caustic are made to help them realize the dangers they're in by going and standing in these idiotic places and eat a fist full of focus fire. Of course none of them expect this to be listened to and therefore go play their own game and practice as if they're paratroopers (Maneouver and fire) during D-Day jumbled into the insanity of the war.
Then you also have to realize that in PuGs you will get failed and successful sync drops about 5% of the time, where 2-3 lances from the same unit drop in together. Again, you have them playing their own game where they're doing the brotherly 'dogpile and take his lunch money' from other members of their unit, or... more duplicitously, they won't shoot at each other till everyone else is dead, THEN fight each other.
These are some other realities of being in a PuG that I've experienced since deciding I never want to lone wolf it again. It's too flipping painful.
1453 R, I read that post, sounds like you might like the Seraphim's 'garrison' forces that are strictly casual, bring what you want play, and play with whom you like. You want competative company play where you pick what level of play you want, it might be a good match for you there too. Some of the companies are "casual" competative where we pay lip service to the meta but do our own thing while others are hard core min/max groups out to be the best in the game.

Chillax doesn't really seem to fit your description. If I was going to put that into words I might say "manic absurdest" and even that isn't quite right. Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but I think what you want is constrained more by the lacking social interface than the particular requirements of any guild or group. The bare ass minimum would be a sorting system that lets you select a set of some number of people (lance, brig, friends) you want to shoot the shit with and/or automatically launch with when a requisite number have readied up. As it stands you have to get 2-4 or 12 people exactly all readied up at the same time. If you could set it so the match takes the first 12 readies in a pool of fifty and automatically kicks them out the drop-ship doors, what you want would be more manageable.
If you want to join a faction, please consider the Devil's Luck Day Raiders; we are a small mercenary group of one that doesn't actually exist. Our motto is "Night ops are for wimps." We are affiliated with Clan Grape Ape and sometimes we even play MWO.

This is MWO. You can be good without a team. You will never be great without one.

You guys are dickheads. Your only value over A.I. bots is the variety of human unpredictability. I don't want to talk to you, because only one in a thousand of you ever has something worth saying.

"[Insert League-playing company here] is recruiting! Go to our website and submit an application! You must:
-Be 25 years of age or over. Failure to be sufficiently crusty results in an immediate cut.
-Be mature, respectful, and above all willing to submit to the orders of your superiors. Failure to be a good little cog in our war machine results in an immediate cut.
-Be able to commit to 10h/week uninterrupted practice time with your assigned lance, whether you like those douchewhales or not. Failure to do so results in an immediate cut
-Be able to adjust your schedule to assist/compete in inter-unit events, regardless of IRL complications. Failure to be sufficiently competitive results in an immediate cut.
-Have at least 30m C-bills available at time of recruitment for the purchase and outfitting of whichever 'Mech we decide you would be best-suited to piloting in your assigned lance. Most likely a Highlander, maybe a Victor, possibly a Jenner/Firestarter. Failure to conform to the meta results in an immediate cut.

Heh...I refuse to be a conscript, so I become a stone instead. I drop by myself and keep to myself, because my actual friends don't play MWO, and you guys aren't my friends. This is my choice, my active preference, and I find the constant belittling of people too antisocial/Grinch-ish/frightened/insert-negative-descriptor-here to Man Up And Group Up to be.
Or, y'know...there's entire House servers where I did my premade time. No 12-year olds or profanity-spewing twits...just adults, playing MWO together. No unit Gestapos or "THOU SHALT PLAY META" requirements. You're a Lonely- and that's not a statement of being a horrible person, it's simply a statement of fact. You play alone, for multiple complex reasons- but that's a "skilled player that doesn't premade". Heck, -I'm- a Lonely at the moment due to having to keep silent at home due to roomies that need to sleep when I have play time.

That's pretty much what the House Liao TS server was like for me when I was playing with VOIP. Play what you like, no worries, long as you can play together. I mean, you're talking about someone who favors lobbing LRMs all day, every day in a world full of ballistic/PPC metadakka builds. To me, House servers fall between the more strait-laced merc units and the PUG abyss. See how it feels. Being a Lonely is a choice, and often the -best- choice for a player...but there are other viable choices that may also be good. The only thing I pity about being a Lonely is how often they get dragged down by a team- they can work together, they play well...but simply lack having those team players for reasons often beyond their control.

True, we have no place for profanity in the Seraphim where we encourage parents and their young children to play. I didn't think I could make the transition either. I have worked hard to control my tongue and have been amazed at how well it's worked. I don't need to drop the F-bomb in joy or anger (well most times... shhh!) or I'm using push to talk to be good about it. It just doesn't comport with us representing ourselves as Christian men and women if we are to try and live up to the standards asked of us.
As for being outlandish we have quite a collection of characters... me being one of the biggest ones. This just one example.
All I was doing was commenting on the game without being in it cause my right arm was recovering from surgery, hanging out and enjoying the company.
Don't worry though. I totally understand because I never thought I'd be able to pull that ding dong diddly dong hard job of keeping my daddilydoodily mouth clean as a diddly. ;c)
