I was unable to buy a founder membership, would have if I could have. So I was pretty eager for open beta.

I've now played a bunch of matches in trial mechs. My average income is just over 75k cbills per match. Which worries me since I've seen discussion that repairs and ammo for non trial mechs runs close to 80k cbills after a match.

I don't have any problem spending cash to get real mechs but if simply going into a match is an at best break even situation that sounds like it will take regular cash infusions just to keep playing which bothers me.

Keep in mind I have no problem with spending about $15 a month, what a sub for any mmo costs, just that I'm concerned that that much won't cover actually playing the game much less buying the various mech chasis.

Am I missing something?

Trail 'Mechs take in 75% of the pay you should get. In your own mech you will be making 100-200k+- a match. The better you play the more cash you make, also if you run high tech like XL eng and FF armor expect higher pay for repairs. Streak missile ammo, Gauss ammo, AC/20, LUBX/10 ammo is high cost as well.

I've run a 4sp with endosteel and 2xsrm6 with 2tons of ammo and net 350k in a LONG hard fought match without cash boost. My repair/rearm was 70-80k with no ammo, dead arm, dead 2xmlas and heavy armor damage.

You can always pay $ for premium time as well in the future, and make a ton of money per match. That's sort of like paying a subscription. Though its not necessary.

Income increases dramatically as you improve at the game and get your own Mech.

A lot of the people complaining about rearm costs are also (often intentionally) running ridiculously expensive builds and refusing to use the resources provided by the game to lessen the rearming burdens (For example, the game auto-refills 75% of your max ammo for free after every game)

Once you have your own Mech, you can expect an average win to net you around 150,000 c-bills, or an exceptional win to net you 200,000-250,000 without Premium bonuses.

Note: Exceptional wins are not high damage wins. They're efficient wins. Kill the meat, save the metal. More of the enemy's stuff surviving the battle (minus the pilots) means more stuff you can sell off as salvage.

For comparison:

High damage, Low efficiency

Low damage, High efficiency

Premium time will increase cash intake but it is better to use that in an owned mech or the Low-Wang to best use the time. With Premium time in a owned mech played so/so to well you can take in 200-300k a match and more so with the Low-Wang -- but the mech is sub par unless you can play it well with a good team to make good on the time bonus + 30% Wang bonus.

Premium time can increase take home money but if players feel pressured to buy premium time just to make enough money to break even while using things Ferro-Fibrous armor how will they feel when Clan tech is introduced next year?
