Film Grain Removal

As a safetly measure for the pilot of a 'mech, there are no actual windows. what the pilot sees is a screen projection intended to emulate the appearance of windows. Think about it. There is no glass capable of withstanding a gauss or autocannon shell or for that matter, any armament on an enemy 'mech. So the film grain, I would assume, is for the immersion of piloting a battlemech.
Same thing with the new polarizing effect when hit in the cockpit area with lasers, or when looking at a 'mech that's glowing super bright close by.
Personally, I like it.
However, I do understand the frustration of those having problems because of it. By using this modification, how has it effected your game? Performance? FPS increase? Generally speaking, you just like it better without the grainy effect?

Nope, just some ****** filter. Loads of games are doing this nowadays. Nothing to do with immersion, just laziness.

I do NOT care about canon. I care about performance. Not being able to turn off certain effects limits my ability to play at a decent framerate. It's ridiculous that my computer is only 2 years old, yet I can't get FPS higher than 30 on the lowest graphics setting.

Is the "grain" that thing that makes it like every map is filled with smoke? Because that's actually my biggest issue with the game at the moment. If I go outside or look at high-def videos of outdoor scenes, everything's crystal-clear, but in MWO it's like someone poured a whole swamp into my eyes and it's quite unpleasant.

I'm kind of unsure myself. I would really like for someone to post before/after pics

I get this. I'm struggling with FPS also. And my system is above the recommended specs. Theoretically I should be able to run this game on very high settings without problems. Which is why I asked how the mod effects gameplay. Does it increase frame rates?
I personally like the effects. That being said, I would be willing to try this mod if it helped game performance. At least until some better optimization is implemented so I could turn my grainy screen back on.

It is transparent armor, not projected image.
And as a matter of fact, why would it affect the interior of mech when we're at it?

Pretty much, yeah.
But there are general rules that say novels can be made more amazing to some degree at the expense of canon, but sourcebooks are the alpha and omega when it comes to deciding what is true. Of course, the newer ones trumph the old ones and so on...

With that said I really think the filters used diminish the game. I've grown used to it but it should really be an option to turn it off. Let players who want the immersion effect keep it and those that want a clearer screen turn it off. It's all about options.
