Good lord, as a widely eclectic music lover (and long time metalhead), I opened this thread thinking it would about how much we need to throw dubstep into a fire ...

I went to Tim Hortons a week ago, sat down to have a coffee/read a book between shifts at work. Guess what, ******** university infants blasting DUBSTEP all day long ... freakin kiddies ... can't say I'm too surprised in retrospect.

I'm going to find skrillex and throw him into Caustic crater ....

*end rant*

On a serious note, as a music lover, I will always have it on mute while I'm in-game. There are many situations (in everyday life) where concentration is foremost priority.

-edit-
Hearing dubstep is about as unoriginal as hearing drowning pool's "let the bodies hit the floor" on Youtube , makes me angry i have to close my browser ASAP.

Ummm ... Mechwarrior and Battletech absolutely drip '80s. Have you ever looked into the old manuals?

If you want dubstep, fit pulse lasers.

I'll be honest. I think the combination of the music and the videos they are in posted by the OP are absolutely terrible. Especially the "classical" and rock examples.

playing mwo and no listening "metal meltdown" from Judas Priest's Painkiller album is a no-brainer.

big metal monsters needs big metal strings, as always...

I don't think dubstep is a good fit at all for this game (or really any ingame music), but it would be better than the trailer music. The official trailer song is dry and boring.

League of Legends is basically an upgraded warcraft 3 level, but listen to the music they come up with:

Borderlands 2 has all the 96% more wub wub I need. I play Mechwarrior for my classic 80's hair metal.

Which is kind of funny because BL2 has no dubstep whatsoever, except for CL4P-TP beatboxing.

One thing that everyone here needs to keep in mind is that, most of you are mechwarrior fans from before, which is why you are here before the game even comes out. So even though you might not like it, the music you might want for the trailer might be bad for business for MWO. I know all of you want this game to succeed, so you might want to think about what will attract a larger audience, and make more money for the game thus allowing it to thrive and expand. In my opinion, some kid sees the current videos... meh, see the same videos with dubstep and now he wants it. Just something to keep in mind, because it does make a difference. I think metal would also go along nicely, but to appeal to the hypertechnical age of young minds these days, it's gotta be dubstep.

Just so you know most dubstep artists have alot more musical education than rock guys. Most are music school graduates (the successful ones) or started in other musical fields. My favorite dubstep group (Nero) are comprised of two Musical University graduates, one plays classical guitar, and the other plays the cello. Also, Skrillex (most known US artist) started off in a rock band. You don't have to like dubstep, just don't talk about something you don't really have a clue about, you just sound dumb.

Dubstep sucks

Your thread sucks

Therefore, the only place that lousy dubstep should be associated with MWO is within this lousy thread.

good god, I was trying to watch the videos for this game, but the music is so bad I couldn't do it. please stop using crappy 80s p0rn0 rock songs for the vids. considering how much dubstep is coming up in the US, lasers and dubstep combine real nicely.

Your speakers don't have a volume control? If you don't like the music just turn it down.

Taste is a personal thing, it dosn't please everyone all the time, but most of the music I've seen being played in MW:O Vids suits the MW franchise which started. . wait for it. . . Back in the 80s!

I understand the connection, I just think it should be updated to meet the times.

Honestly I would love some dubstep for this game. Some crazy electronica would also be good. The music in MW4 was also pretty epic though and would love to see something like that. Heavy Metal would be a fine alternative as well. The best would be some way to choose between different music styles, but honestly any of the options above would be better then nothing.

Before we get some music though, can we at least get a sexy computer voice to tell me "heat levels critical"?

Edit- I loved when dubstep was not that popular. Like in 05 when I first heard DJ Nightmare. Now that little kids are everywhere blasting it it makes me sad to be listening to the same music... :D

Dubstep sucks, we need to bring back the Mechwarrior music, the dire orchestrated pieces that scream "You are about to die."

Also, why on God's green earth is this game in open beta? It's no where close to being remotely close to done.

Clearly the 80's metal (that is still freaking everywhere) is horrible for business and the... *ahem* "hypertechnical age of young minds" need to be spoon fed remixed and sampled techno in order to have their attention held? By that logic we might as well use lady gaga, Beiber, "other crap pop sensation" of the month which has far more (unaccountable) popularity than dubstep if we want to appeal to a bigger audience.

To my mind keep it simple make it fit, 80's era music fits teh 80's era theme steeped in the MW franchise but failing that heavy strings, driving base, and a little "meedly meedley meedly WOOOOW" is all we need. Giant *** robots pretty much speak for themselves.
