It seems that the issue of hit detection isnt going away, and you still need to aim ahead of where the target really is on your screen even with lasers to make a strike. So it begs the question, when will Oceania get local servers so we can play with acceptable latencies?

Short answer: we won't. Longer answer: there are currently no plans for regional servers, although it's been mentioned as something they'd like to do. So I'm not holding my breath.

Then they need to fix up the ridiculous hit detection. Having to aim lasers at thin air to hit a target is unforgivable. I'll come back to MWO when the issue is fixed.

Well it's a shame that it will take while. There are a few threads where some people even actually offered to setup server farms.
I'm still supporting the possibility of Oceania servers- it may not be soon but at least lets keep the option open.

Thats not a ping issue its a netcode issues. Im in vancouver and have a 60-80ms ping and still have to lead targets with lasers and still have a good half second to two second firing delay on autocannons.

There are plans, it's not just down as a wish list item it is a definite thing they are going to do, just not now. There isn't a definite planned timescale (that they've posted up) but it is more than just a wish list item.
I would imagine that they have the data on where people are connecting from and will prioritise those areas that are growing fastest.

PGI is a small company, this is not Blizzard or Sony Entertainment Online. Overseas operations is a big deal for a small team of developers; they do not even have their local in-house servers running as well as they should be, let alone managing exported server clusters.

And the worse your ping is the further you have to lead your target as you are aiming at where they will be in 60-80ms in your case, or 250-300 ms for Australia.
