The post I linked above has been linked to pretty much all threads discussing "abuse" of the suicide mechanic to gain more cbills than intended. Extrapolating, dying quickly is indeed against the TOS if you're doing it to gain cbills quickly. Since we cannot diagnose intent, only the results, I'm curious as to where to send names for investigation when they die early.

So if I make a game, with a junk mechanic that can be obviously exploited, I can write it into the ToS that its against the rules? rather than fixing the mechanic? wonderful, I'll be sure to put that into the ToS of my game that I'm working on. I'll bet that would make me look like a solid game designer.

seriously? dying quickly is against the ToS? please cite the exact phrase. I want to know how much I can laugh at this game, and tell people not to play it.

Clearly it is against ToS when an enemy scout is spotted by a friendly scout and Missile swarms ensue. It is against martial law to die until specifically ordered to by a superior officer or your drop commander! :) ;)

What about people that crash to desktop or get black screens when game match starts. I suppose we are all lumping them into farmers as well?

What a bunch of chicken littles.

The sky is falling!

Careful Sir. I have been swarmed and killed quite quickly. The way to know a player is suiciding would be that they run up to you and just stop. Even then, I know I myself will accept the inevitable when I have been swarmed and am being shredded. So you need to apply some discretion when/if you are turning someone in.

Oh and don't forget the 4 frame per second death by slow motion. ;)

wtf never give up! :/

Accepting you are going to die when you are facing an assault lance with a medium laser... is not giving up. It is accepting the inevitable.

Five minutes! It doesn't take DHB that long to wipe out the whole opposing team..... ;) By the way how do you intend to prove that said player was "suiciding"? It's a sad day when we have communist type snitching going on a game! I think they used to call it a witchhunt.

I don't think they'll ban anyone since they cannot tell who got bad luck scouting or are just committing suicide.
Locking trials are no good answer though.
What I can't understand is why not implement any of the suggestions made on the proper board?
There are some great and simple ideas there.

This is ridiculous i frequently get LRM spammed in the 1st 3 mins and then watch my PUG team get murdered. If cant watch some bogus ***** who cant group his weapons and have to quit out then is that really farming????? surely this is just for trial mechs yeah?

There were threads when I first joined closed beta about this problem, except then people could run OOB and explode. They removed rewards from OOB exploiters I believe. They'll keep bandaid fixing the symptom and not fixing the underlying mechanics until they realize the solution isn't punishing players, its fixing the design flaw causing the behavior. Until then, don't die too fast!

*sigh*... OP... If you insist... I'd say report anyone you want for whatever reason... but... I would assume after enough eroneous (sp?) reports and causing support to track down incident after incident and they all turn out to be nothing... you may be the one that ends up getting "talked" to... just a guess but I know WoT's had their "in-game" report feature... sure you could use it, but abuse it and you face penalties... imagine the same type of thing could happen here...

Fixed it for you.

Oh, and I am reporting Paul for having a name that is counter intuitive with regards to its spelling.

But you don't run without armor and weapons , right !!!!!!!! I saw a player running in raven without any weapons and no armor ,he rushed to our base last night . That is the problem !!!!

Bryan never once mentions ToS or CoC in that post.

I was going to copy-paste it and bold/underline the important part, but that's already been done... so yeah.

How would they be erroneous? If suicide farming is against the TOS, shouldn't those doing it be reported?

What? No, it is clearly stated that disconnecting after you die is fine.

I'd recommend spectating here and there to all players, as you'd be surprised what you can learn (and the hilarity of watching some players bumble around.) But you are not currently, nor will you ever be, forced to stick around after you die.

They are only penalizing disconnects before you die.

Just wanted to make sure that was straight.

I don't know if most of you understand what PGI is going to be looking for when they start banning people for suicide scout. If someone has a record of 20 games straight with a trial light mech, only lasting 1 min or less, quickly getting out of that game after death to join another one and repeating same process. Well i think he be a suicide scout by the look of it.For the people that they dc at the beginning of the game, I highly doubt that they are going to ban you for not having a perfect connection or that their game sometime glitches and you have to exit because you can't play.

This is true, so far all that's happening is trial mechs will get locked down like regular mechs until the end of the match. You can DC after dying with no penalty. They are also posting links to the changes, highlighting the TOS violation, in threads discussing suicide farming of cbills.

Yes, no reward for Out Of Bounds, I learned that staying close to the border (not out of bounds) and without receiving a warning.
It's a known issue, I know...

Funny things to do once in a while:
1. Put good points on rear armor before the match.
2. Keep close to the border facing the battlefield.
3. Wait till a scout come behind you and start firing unaware of the Out Of Bounds message.
4. BOOOM

Pulled this this more than once. ;)

Who said anything about MAKING you watch the other people play? You can leave early. You just won't get any C-bills.
