I would like to extend a Big thanks to the Devs for taking the time to be more transparent on the things being worked on and the ideas behind them. The Command Chair is being used more often now. Thanks :(

Yes, despite having a friend argue with me for 3 hours over IMs about the possible effect of ECM on the future of his play we all REALLY appreciate getting bits of information like that in advance. They got feedback immediately and have already altered a portion of it before it's even been implemented, saving them some time and grief when people complained about Jenners and then more if they took it away after Jenner pilots got to use it for a bit.

There has been an obvious concerted effort in the last week+ to improve transparency regarding changes and outstanding issues. In the last few days that effrot seems to have ramped up even further.

First, I'm glad PGI is using cycles for this, I know you guys have to use your time wisely, and I hoenstly believe this is a wise use of time. Keeping the community up to date on your Dev work means a lot to us (even those who ***** about it). I know that you did this once before toward the end of CB, and that efforts fell off in OB. That was a tactical error IMO, and apparently you guys think so to.

Second, I want to be clear that I am not saying this as a fanboi or to blow smoke, I want the devs to see that their transparency regarding the work and efforts is a good thing so they dont stop again. Like or dislike the actual choices, the effort to get us involved in the game choices early will help the game long term. The Jenner-D ECM thing is a perfect example. If you had not told us until release, the feedback would have been deafening. And not with cheers.

As it stands now, I think ECM will still need some tweaks (coughcough150mbuubble 400m detect) but I think that any feedback and discussion will not approach the nuclear Artemis level of issues. Sure there will be whiners, but those of us who may disagree with your design choices will be able to give useful feedback and the issues will eventually be resolved.

Please keep up the transparency, and know that some of us (most of us in truth) really enjoy being part of the process.

Edit: It says something that two of us made the exact same post at the same time (mine was merged). It reenforces what frawg and I posted....great minds and all that)

First there's a patch full of good stuff, then multiple devs start posting useful info on the forum. I was literally like "WTH happened?!". No actually, that was my reaction after the Jenner got pulled from the ECM list right after the forum thread about it went up.

Good work!

Keep in mind ECM is still far from final

Eeesh...

1st off... I'm throwing Dave B under the bus. I didn't work on the ECM.

2nd, we've been talking about it internally and will be looking at the features prior to launching it to the public.

The point of though is that PGI is taking feedback before implementation, something that will save them a LOT of headaches in the long run. Had they gone live with the version they posted the other day it would have need a disaster. As it is, even if they dont make any further changes before th4th, the community has had its say, the potential gotchas have been identified, and we know more about what we have to test when it comes out.

I especially appreciate the known issues posts by Thomas. Seeing bugs taken care, how long they took to resolve, and the expected date the code is to be implemented is really reassuring.

Hopefully those who say PGI is only working on cosmetic stuff and not the real issues see those posts.

It feels like it was just last week that the whole forum went crazy over third person. (Maybe two weeks?)

Since then they really have been posting a lot more Command Chair stuff, and their response to us regarding ECM and keeping the community informed of progress and plans has been really good. Just look at Paul's recent posts on weapon balancing - it makes a world of difference, and you can see it in the forums.

As a community, let's do our best to reciprocate. Keep feedback constructive rather than negative, and appreciate that fixes do take time and correcting issues may still be slow in coming. They're obviously going out of their way to pay attention to and cater to us, it's the least we can do in return.

Command chair <==> devs admitting they have a problem

Which is really nice IMO, I think that if PGI pulls through somehow and MWO grows up to be a straight up game, people will write books and articles about what PGI is trying to do right now. How well they're doing despite an unfavorable situation and time constraints is quite impressive, but it will only matter if they succeed in the end.

I would actually disagree, I dont see that as them having a problem. In the case of ECM they pushed out their plan for the rollout. The community response was swift (and in some cases hyperbolic) and gave them a chance to review their settings. People brought up valid concerns (whining aside) and the Devs used that as a pre-rollout feedback.

Yes, there has been marked improvement in communication the last few weeks.
