Hi everyone. I have an Awesome which carries a moderately awesome amount of LRMs and Artemis. Will TAG increase the number of missiles hitting a target if I mount it on my own mech? Anyone tried this?

It can't hurt. I carry TAG on my C1.
I do not get to use it that often, once every few matches, mostly because I keep out of harms way as much as possible, but you may find it more useful.

Artemis will have a bigger impact, but yes, TAG will potentially increase your damage.

Tag should make them group tighter, do more damage to 1 spot when they hit.

Use it, the majority of your missiles will hit any target and most on targets that are not light mechs/cicada will almost all go for center torso. You damage and killing potential will increase drastically!

Depending on the tonnage/critical space situation, TAG could make more sense than Artemis. Four launchers w/Artemis = 4 tons + 4 critical slots. TAG is 1 ton + 1 slot. That allows 3 tons/slots for ammo. More damage w/less ammo using Artemis or more ammo w/reduced range for damage bonus with the TAG.

TAG won't help you from wasting combat effectiveness on your team. The only thing that will really help your team is if you take off LRMs.

Absolutely. you never know if you will have a scout who will TAG for you, Unless you are in a team. even then you don't know if the scout will get capped.

Also ignore Kilgore... I think he needs a nap!

I sometimes run a commando with three LRM racks and TAG.

Now, with the speed on that thing, staying in the optimum 300-400 meter range is pretty easy, you may not find it so easy to keep targets there in an awesome...

BUT, if you do, or you can run up on a brawl where someone is distracted and lets you stay at that range... Yes. Tag turns LRMS into streak missiles at 300ish meters.

Best use for them is actually lights circling a friendly. They get like dogs with a bone and just keep going round and round, perfect for tagging and killing, the only issue there is timing the shots so you don't end up with half your missiles hitting the friendly mech being circled.

Depends on your missile platform, on say a Cat, where LRM are used as a support weapon/ indirect fire Id say no, but on an Atlas or awesome where you can sit out of cover and trade with them it is nice. On the arm laser centurions it is also viable. Basically you want the tag jn an agile or raised position like an arm or awesome eye beam so you can connect while in a launching position. If you just have some small auxiliary racks it's probably not worth it.
