Just came from a game where half of the team on the other team had over 200 ping. One Awesome however had 338. We focused on him. We all died one by one while his armor only seemed to go down 1% at a time and yet he never lost any parts yet had no armor. We had gauss on him lrm's, srms, and all kinds of lasorz.

We ended up losing 0-8. He had 5 kills. He had 31% of his overall total. but had no armor was fully intact firing weapons and not overheating and b4 he killed me i put another 3 volleys of lrm into him and then he killed me and went to cap, rofl.. I have seen this many many many many many many many....times from fast movers lately. I guess i'm confused.
Good times-

An awesome hardly moves fast enough to get lagshielding. I think he was just a much better player.

Wow...your replies are sad at best. I'll digress because i can see the excuse machine starting to power up. Next you'll blame the other 6 people shooting him as well.

Lag shield... on an Awesome? Isn't that more for Mechs that can actually move (130+KpH)?

For low ping players, yes. That lag shield is caused by issues with the game engine having trouble tracking something moving that fast, for the most part. There's also actual lag to take into account though. With over 350 ms ping...that's more than a third of a second. He doesn't need to be moving terribly fast to have shots that should hit miss with a ping like that. If he was running an XL, he'd be more than fast enough to be mostly unhittable. The very worst lagshields are, of course, a super fast mech like a Jenner with a massive ping. Those will literally teleport around as the server tries and fails to let you know exactly where he is.

High 338 ping can actually produce the same end effect. Due to the very long time it takes for the data to reach the server his hitbox is probably teleporting between his last location (registered on the server) and the new update which comes much later.

I helped a team mate kill a K2 with a ping of 5000ms last night, we joked he was donwloading too much **** while playing. An Awesome certainly doesn't move fast enough to make you miss that massive barn door of a torso never mind those tree trunk legs.

Whatever problems you had, I doubt it was him moving too fast for your client.

My AWS-9M goes like 84kph, but this sounds more like a case of 'blame anything but myself'. If you lost 0-8 it was not because of some magical lag armor, sorry.

Well, due to the fact that it is even possible to shot down a fast moving lagshield wearing Jenner I asume that it is possible to shot down a slow Awesome with a lag shield. But I would suggest do not blame a technical issue for your own fault! If you can not shot an Awesome with 300ms ping you just played bad! Or he was incredible good!
But sure its far easier to say "I lost because PGI did blabla and the lagshield blabla" then to say "Wow, this Pilot was good, I have to learn more"
No, Sirs, if it was like you said the reason you lost was NOT the lagshield, it was your fault!

I kind of want to see what a like half a team of Jenners with 1k ping would be like, the warping would hilarious like beta World of Tanks.

To the Op I get what you are saying. To most of you other people posting it's like you're not reading what he wrote. You guys are just making up issues he never brought to light. He also seems to to state that his team was focusing on the awesome. I'm not sure how that means your all equating his team not being able to kill a mech to him being a bad player.
No wonder most of us are losing interest.
You "people" scare me.

Well the lagshield caused by the high latency of the shooter and receiver + heavily equiped assault allow easy rolfstomping because even if slow what both team seem is not what reality is so you may have believed to be shooting straight on him but were hittign air most of the time, and if he knew about is lag he ompensated it thus he beat you, I sometime download to get High lag to get lag shield, its cheap but sometime when I want to troll a bit its fun...

Mine avgs. 40ms
This game my team that was actualyl playing with us was from 30 something to 122ish... most were around 100 i think. But it doesn't matter when you do things like watch your missiles hit on your hud. where they hit yada yada. So we know we were getting hits but sometimes the hits didn't seem to matter if that makes sense. Plus i was LRM/streak support so its not like my skill ahd anything to do with it right? lol @ these clowns.

few days ago I saw a legged (!!) Commando skipping 10-15 m at once and he prevented us to capture the base, none of us had streaks
this was before the hotfix so a LRM cat took care of him in the end

I'm so sorry I didn't FRAPSed it

Anyone who thinks the hit recognition is not currently fubar just isn't paying attention. That plus ridiculously high ping can and does cause much WTFness.

edit: anyone who intentionally causes high ping, like a poster admitted earlier, is just a Looooooser.

ALot of replies from people in here that clearly have no programming experience nor any experience with netcode.

The OT could absolutely happen with a ping 1/3s long.
