question: would mechs that are in the game files (Victor 9A1, Cataphract 3L, etc) be considered in this thread or at least in it's own section?

Hmm... It is supposed to be a list of "current and announced" 'mechs (and the CTF-3L actually is on the list since it was announced way back when), so I dunno. I've never heard of the 9A1 before this :)

OTOH, there can't be that many variants in the game files that aren't current or announced, can there?

After the clans there is a reasonable few. for eg the elusive LRM boat nova which has an LRM 20 in the arm- the alt.config. D, there is also the Summoner M I believe, main difference to prime is that it has a side torso E with the M. There is also possibly more vindicators coming in game but unknown at the moment.
There was also I believe a Hunchback 4N at some point? can't verify this but it got 'nerfed' into what is now known as the grid iron with less E and M hardpoints.

there is a HBK 4N in cannon, never in game though. I think your confusing the hunchback with the Centurion.. I've been playing this game since the second patch of the closed beta, and I cant remember there ever being a hunchback variant that has been taken out. but there was the Centurion AH that was removed around the time they implemented the YLW.

what about bushwacker? I know that it serie appears massively in 3053. But tries of it production were earlier. It is one of the best medium mechs. Actually i hate medium mechs, because they don't have such a firepower like heavies or speed and maneurability like lights, but this one has a pretty good balance. I think it would be like a diamond among other medium mechs. I know that mwo universe is 3052 now, so could bushwacker be a christmas present for mechwarriors?)

This is just a list of current and announced 'mechs - the Warhammer and the Bushwhacker are neither.

not currently announced- but the blood moon banner with the black knight shows it with a UAC 5... doesn't appear to match any of the 4 black knights either as it has 3E side torso, 2 AMS, and a ballistic...

Edit: anyone know any ballistic blackknights?

Here's the thread for discussing what may or may not, should or should not show up in MWO: Ultimate Mech discussion thread.

As a bonus, it's one of the (if not the) longest-running threads on the forums, it started in June 2012 and is still going strong. It's also one of the biggest threads, with more than 10,000 posts over 500+ pages.

I'm trying to keep this thread to ONLY 'mechs that are actually in the game or have been officially announced by PGI.

Updated with the Marauder, its variants, and preorder release date (MC/CB release dates are TBD as per the FAQ).

It is an impressive list.
I have been keeping a bit of spreadsheet on the count and believe we are up to 312 base variants.
224 for the Innersphere and 88 for the Clan, not counting the extra possible combination with the Omni Mechs.

With the addition of the Marauder, we might expect perhaps another dozen or so of the 'unseen' to be reseen.
What is there?
Warhammer
Rifleman
Crusader
Archer
Phoenix Hawk
Wasp
Stinger

Probably a few others.

A big round of applause and pats on the back for the team.
I think this is an outstanding achievement.
The designs and quality of the mechs is top notch.

One can currently buy all Cauldron Born mech's with CBills - however, one of the sets of omnipods isn't available.

might i add that the jagermech is an improved rifleman..... so adding it would be pointless. really, the jager in battletech lore is an improved more reliable rifleman.

While true. It would give you a jager like chassis, for 5 tons less, to use in CW.

BUMP to remind addition of WHM to announced list.

(Want Phoenix Hawk next! It would be a pretty nifty addition to a sorely understaffed 45-ton weight category, and could be pretty handy in fighting back against the Clan invasion.)

For what it's worth, I decided to take a look at the Bushwacker in my theorycrafting thread. It doesn't look like it's going to be a decent mech at all. I used to be excited about it, but after taking a closer look I'm expecting it to be trash if it ever is introduced. Details here.
