Why does the game client no longer display the number of players online? Are the developers trying to hide the fact that nobody is interested in this game anymore? Discuss. Official dev reply would be welcome.

You're about a couple days late on this one, nothing to discuss.

Obviously there is something to discuss, since they wouldn't have hidden it otherwise.
I agree, but at this point, we aren't likely to get it back anytime soon, and they aren't likely to comment on the reasons.
Which I very much dislike.
Between that and removing the CN9-AH I'm starting to lean towards the "PGI - Dafuq?" crowd

It probably has to do with the fact that at the PEAK of the CB stress test it there was maybe 2100 online. While that seems like a pretty high number, up until this point the AVERAGE CB night saw around 2000 players. If CB testers couldn't get up and log in to actually DO beta stress testing the indicators are that the game was not hooking players successfully.
Consider that Open Beta is a very FLUXY time, it could discourage the general population if they saw a swell on opening day only to see it halve itself the next.
