Yes, I rather enjoy LRM boating. I enjoy using LRMS on my brawler to soften people up. To add extra firepower against the scout at the start when they do the little peek and duck over the ledge.

I enjoy it because it is a good portion of damage in a support form.

I fully enjoy and agree with how the gameplay mechanics are for missles in this game. It requires a lock and hold like a flight sim. It requires LoS of the mech in the field, and it requires you to get a feel of how the flight path is to deliver the most damage per salvo.

It does not take as much 'skill' as learning to dodge and weave in the circle of death brawling that a medium does. Also no, it does not require one to have twitch skills, or even the ability to breathe, walk, and chew bubblegum at the same time.

However I fully enjoy playing the long range support in this game for the true glory of this meta game is acheived when evenly matched teams fight each other.

Every beta tester that has ever grouped has a story on how they met up with such and such on the field and it was a long, drawn out fight. Baiting, cover, the slow movement of back and forth darting over the ridge to potshot. this is where the team with good long range support makes the diffrence.

So yes, I enjoy the LRM boat. It will always have a place in my stable of mechs, as well as in the meta game.

It will also be the source of continous cries of OP, lame and not fair.

To those who complain of LRMS I only have one thing to say. Please stop standing on top of the hill with four mechs shooting you. LRMs are incoming.

PS.

I <3 LRMs. Both as a scout and as a Cat. My dream is to one day field the Atlas D-DC variant and run the triple LRM15 set up with a pair of Jenner scouts with TAGs making me a very, very happy pilot.

That's not what boating is. Boating is where you use almost nothing but LRMs.

I contemplated just posting ten elite founder tag images, but I happy discovered that you aren't actually a fan of LRM boating.

Well depends on what you believe the purpose of LRMS is for... or primary LRM mechs are for.

Keep peoples heads down, and on their toes + support or a primary weapons system. As a near full time cata pilot I can't say I kill a lot of folks with LRMS...but damned if I dont get 4-7 assists and high damage per game.

"Boating" isnt some sort of exploit. Particularly when there are mech variants designed specifically for that (catapult-A1 for example). Enjoy your list!

Keep up the good work.

A standard braindead LRM premade doesn't care about the Jenner pecking at them until they've done their work to the rest of the team.

One or two LRM boats/LRM primary mechs are fine and provide a dangerous but vulnerable presence during the match. 7 of them dropping 500 missile volleys on one target at a time is not fine.

thats a TEAM of lrms a single or pair of lrm boats are not cheese its a proper role also jenners most certainly do not peck lol they will ruin your day and if anyone on your team has a mind and notices the metal rain coming down on the scout and doesnt take a scenic route... well idk what to say about them

caustic is your only excuse for anger all the others have proper shielding

Point 1/ What is wrong with LRM boating, nothing it is a legitmate mech build.

Opposing Point/ What is wrong with it is as a LRM boat I can get 1000 damage for a good game and for a dragon pilot and a good game I can get 400 damage.

Same pilot same skills different roles.

LRM going through buildings and rocks are also annoying.
AMS thats really is ineffectual is annoying.
A stream of LRMS that hit your mech, seems to do more damage in shorter time then an AC20 on a stationary mech is annonying.

I don't have the answer but I play a support role and melee role equally and I do know LRM are a tad unbalanced, but it only my opinion I don't have PGI hard figures based on damage v what mech components are installed. It should be easy to calculate.

I personally don't like boating. I did it on my AWS-R as a very cheap way of unlocking the basic pilot skills as i move my 9M into elite. I will never play a LRM support role. Lazy, easy and unispired way to play in my personal opinion.

LRMs are awesome at destroying people who ignore the use of terrain... against those who know that you should use terrain, on the other hand, not nearly as useful.

I think LRMs are the best low-hanging-fruit pickers.

My only grip is not the lrms but hills/buildings that should block it don't. I have seen so many missiles go through objects its stupid.

I love the way the missile swarms look as they fly. That and I think LRM boats will likely be good ones to use the command gadget on since they're out of the action.

They do reduce the amount of missiles that hit you. Do you expect to completely negate a 10 ton weapon with a half ton of defense?
