Beta means that they get to ask people to buy $120 founders packages, or $99.95 MC packages for a game which is years away from having a reasonable amount of content, or having its bugs fixed

What does being in BETA mean

The Founder's program was a master stroke of finance, like holding a kickstarter where the loaners get the product early!
Actually, that's fairly common for games on kickstarter (That you get closed beta access).
They just didn't have to pay kickstarter for their kickstarter; they did it themselves.

I have to say that PGI is taking a risky and unique path to develop this game. The Founder's program was a master stroke of finance, like holding a kickstarter where the loaners get the product early!
Because this is so unique, I think the traditional Beta/Live line seems very blurred to people.
When I am told that my Premium Timer is ticking and there will not be any more resets of it, I will consider it live.
I Have a list of items that would be complete for me to be satisfied with a go-live

but it will be reset so i guess its not live for you =P
but anyway I've seen much worse OBs. Hell minecraft still doesnt work properly and its one of the most popular games out there XD. I've gotten freezes and lock ups on full retail games like halo reach and skyrims main story quest didnt work passed the sewers till about a month after launch when they dropped the patch. And these are games developed by massive studios so while im disappointed with how we went OB without MM i say this is far from ALPHA as in alpha rendering geometry isnt always finished and you tend to fall through the world or fire nerf pellets thats what ALPHA is. Beta is a solid base ie a few maps fully rendered a few weapons/mechs in this case (by the way we have most of the weapons) and all the controls and objectives working while content gets funneled down after its developed those people complaining about this being alpha really haven't done that many alpha or beta tests have they? Many games go ob to show off "oh look at what weve done and it only gets better at launch

And four years from now, when they remove the tag "beta", people will say: What are you complaining about? This game is four years old, move on.

Beta....Clint comes to mind....adapt, improvise, overcome...even with the nerfing into 4 person crews you can still rock and roll...even with missle hell hell you can still close and chew them up with a swayback...bring it...we will kill it...
