I have elited two Awesomes and an Atlas. I have three Atlases that are in the midst of the elite skills grind, but there's one I don't want to keep: The AS7-RS!

I'd really like to get rid of the RS to make room to rebuy my Hunchback 4H, but I'm wondering if I should keep it and master it first along with my other two Atlases, since they cost about 9.5 million c-bills a piece.

So is there any benefit right now to mastering 3 variants of the same chassis?

I'll say "Master the RS".

Since you already own the mech, to sell now, in my opinion, would only serve to undermine your earning potential, as you would be missing out on CBills and Exp that would have otherwise accrued as you took it to master.

As for selling the mech.....Dunno. I heard something about achievements, and a possibility that one may be collecting all mechs. But do not take that as gospel, my memory may be photographic (not), but I do run out of film from time to time.

Hope this helps.

No benefits right now to keeping all 3 of them. I say ditch the ***** and get in the hunch. Yes there will be the cbill loss, but that is a sunk cost and should not be factored into future endeavours. If you are unlikely to want to play the RS again over the other atlas, and want to play a hunch over the RS, then swap them.

Mastering, no! Getting Elite, YES. Once you get 3 elite in same weight class then you can master it, after basics done.

It depends. Master what you want to keep. Personally I run them to Master and then try out various loadouts to evaluate the variants. Then I keep the ones that fit what I want to do the most.

Only benefit I know of is the extra C-Bills and XP you grind out doing it.

The correct answer is to master the Atlai and sell the Awesomes. Stalker/Highlander > Awesome.

I'd like you to reconsider selling the RS. I own 3 Atlases and they all have their uses but the RS can be a lot of fun. I currently run mine with a near maxed engine and close to full armour with 4 LL and 1 Gauss. Or try a god-mode sniper with ERPPCs and Gauss. Either way, it can slot more large energy weapons than the other Atlases.

How is that a benefit of keeping it? He'll be generating C-Bills and XP in whatever (superior) mech he puts in its place. Keeping the RS if you don't want to fight in it has no value, and fighting in it if you'd rather be in another mech is just opportunity cost.

I did end up selling the RS and buying a CN9-A in its place so I can start eliting/mastering Centurions. I wouldn't have sold the RS if there was a clear benefit to mastering three chassis of the same variant, like a c-bill or GXP perk.

Before ECM the -RS was my favorite mech. Load it with 4 large lasers or PPCs and it's very good. Personally I like the 4 large lasers and 46 single heat sinks, it's hard to over heat and very effective for me. You can add the gauss rifle if you want, but then you can't use the energy weapons as much. I'd like a 100 tonner with 6 energy slots some day.

The energy-based 100-tonner you want is called the Imp, and I don't think we're going to see it for awhile :(

I guess theoretically, yes, but that'll be another can of worms - How omnimechs will be treated in MWO!

i dont think it has anything to do with it being an omni-mech, it comes with 8 energy weapons so.......

That would make sense, but I imagine PGI will do something to make the omnis unique besides possibly fixing the engine and armor on each omni chassis. Perhaps they'll get a hardpoint bonus of some sort.

it would be so weird if they had universal hard points

I would keep the RS, as it's a really nice mech. Have you tried it with 4 big energy weapons+ gauss or ac20?

EX: 4xLar-laser, 1xGauss

It's a champ.

yeah its very rarely worth selling a mech. I usually keep 2 of every chassis, sometimes all 3. The RS is a great mech, lots of versatile builds possible.
