So, do we dare hope that there will be a system in place to allow for Spotting and indirect LRM fire? I think it would add a whole lot of interesting options for Light Mech Pilots.

you should read all the lovely dev notes about that sort of thing.

If I read the role warefare sections correctly, this is a possibility. Scout has LOS to the unit, spots an enemy, info is relayed to support mech which gets a lock...FFE. If I read it corrrectly, that is.

From what we have been told so far, yes you will be able to spot for other mechs LRM fire. There are also strong suggestions (though not official) that you possibly (this is unconfirmed I believe) that you can call in artillery strikes as well. Don't quote me on that. Just seen a few comments the devs have made

Right, as long as the support Mechs are within weapon's range of the enemy. HOPEFULLY the Support Mechs can remain in passive radar and fire off a "spotter lock".
Come to think of it, in the gameplay footage we've seen, was there any way the HUD was indicating that LRM-equipped Mechs had a lock in the first place? I didn't notice a change to the reticule or any other HUD element...

Just had a look, I think you are correct. I did not see a lock indicated.

There was something in one of developer blogs about LRM fire. You drift the crosshaors over a mech and open up. As they are semi guided they then head for the target.
Indirect fire was described as a spotter seeing a mech, you having that mech target light up on your HUD and same deal. Not sure if you'd need to cant the torso back to get a decent loft on the missiles or if the game will automatically compensate for it and give them a ballistic flightpath to clear terrain.
Here's hoping!

This is the type of gameplay mechanic that I'm looking forward to see
Really interested in how the designers handle this as it could really be a very awesome feature.
Particularly curious as to how they make this different from Narc, TAG and direct sensor lock, I'm hoping for something similar to Non-LoS lock via Scout = lots of missile spread (to the point where a LOT of your salvos firepower will miss, thus paying a price for the LRM Campers safety), Direct Lock = satisfactory missile spread (most of your salvos firepower hits and spreads as normal, although the LRMer is taking a risk by being in LoS of the target), Narc = tight spread with Narc+Direct lock, same spread as Direct lock if non-LoS....this could be very interesting!
