Last game i lost a gauss and a medium laser from my RT
still had armor on the back and on the front
the arms was intact center torso too
i had lost the armor on the cockpit

is it normal for that to happen?

I believe that once you lose 50% of the armor in a section the chances of a Crit kick in.. This is based on a couple hundred drops observation NOT on anything official from PGI... I for one have no issues with it because I always hated the concept that as long as I had 1 point of armor in a section it was FULLY protected.. That just seemed weird..

The gauss rifle has had a hp neef, It take very little damage to destroy it now.

When using a gauss in the arm it get destroy 90% of the time before the arm does now

I too think you can get a random crit without losing all your armor but there is no official word on this. Honestly if they came out and said it was happening I think the forums would explode from all the people complaining about the RNG.

It's also worth noting that sometimes when you override shutdown, there's a chance of taking internal damage, and thus could damage internal components.

Now that I think about it, from what little information you're giving, that could have been an ammunition explosion as well. Put your ammo into your CT or head, if you can help it. If you absolutely have to put it somewhere else, put a CASE in that section to limit the explosion to that part alone.

Now, was that actually armor or internal structure? You can certainly lose items in a section that's still got internals.

I can't shake of the feeling that something is going wrong here as well.

I've lost 2 LB10-X AC in my Atlas after a few hits and my armour was damaged, but not destroyed.

I suspect it's some kind of bug, not a undocumented feature.

I can't find the thread anymore but I'm 95% sure I read something about weapons being able to be destroyed in sections that are not destroyed back in the CB forums. Had something to do with critical hits and actually makes a little sense if you consider that when armor is striiped enough, your weapong could technically become "visible" and take the damage directly, rather than the section it's in. (yes I realize this is a game and not exactly based on reality)

no damage to internals, only armor damage, and no ammo on that section or close too
what i think happened is that the gauss exploded even with armor still left, and then took out the medium laser out

gauss ammo dont explode
ammo on CT or Head is pretty bad, since you can die from 1 hit to your internals in that section
get your ammo away from the parts you need most

or maybe there was a bug that transfered damage from the internals in the head to the RT
is that possible? internal's damage transfer?

The gauss can blow up when firing it and take out everthing in the section it is mount in.

gauss = can blow up
gauss ammo = can't blow up

Pretty sure there was a thread about this very topic a few days prior to open beta. In the absence of any official word from PGI the general consensus appeared to be that there was an issue whereby sometimes (small percentage) armour is being bypassed by the hit detection system and damage done directly to weapons / internals.

Oddly enough, I've noticed something similar when getting hit by PPC fire- once in a blue moon, it'll damage internal components. OP, you didn't happen to get slapped by a few of those, were you?

I've screen shots of my gauss rifle destroyed even before all the external armor was gone from the location it was mounted in.

Word to the wise. Go with AC 5/10/20 on your HBKs or you'll find yourself with max ammo and a busted weapon after your first hit.
