I've been playing a fair bit the last few days and I have to say it feels a lot different & better since CB finished. I don't know if it is the new players or the old ones taking it more seriously, but me and my mates have had some epic battles that came right down to the line. PGI were right to start OB IMO, the knowledge of no more resets is a big motivation to grind out xp and get my mechs leveled up to max and I'm less inclined to just buy/sell an atlas with my MC to cash up.
If there is a slight negative it is that I am seeing waaay more min/max type of builds - I won't call them broken but many matches seem to be full of streak cats, gauss cats, and LRM boats. I can adjust my strategies a bit to help handle these but I wouldn't be surprised if they turn some new players off a bit and I wouldn't be surprised if PGI do some more tweaking to those types of build once they get a bit more data.
Funnily enough though the rain of LRMs makes battles a lot more fun in some ways - you feel like you are hiding in the trenches then group up with your fellow brawlers and do a big push together to engage the enemy. I just feel sorry for the newb in a trial mech that ventures out in the open and gets hit by coordinated fire of 200 LRMs...
