As the subject says, will there be an area where companies/groups can train together privately, without outside interference? Way back in the day when NBT was first created (1997), it took several months before the league actually kicked off, and my Clan did nothing but train together that entire time, and it paid off hugely for us, and I'd like a way to do that again.

However, now, myself and some of my friends can't get our MW Mercs 4 to run on Windows 7 64bit (although some friends can, and thus far we can't figure out how to fix it, run as admin/compatibility mode, etc., nothing works...wondering if it might be a hex core issue or something) so there is no way to practice together for all of us, and I imagine it's like this for a lot of people.

So, it is my hope that MWO will have a means for companies/clans/etc to be able to practice together, test configs out, etc., without the threat of losing our mechs or paying for repairs. Any enlightenment on this subject by the devs would be much appreciated.

First of all.. you cannot lose your mechs... EVER

Once you purchased them they will be in your hangar no matter how often they are destroyed.. all you do is pay a C-bill fee to get them repaired.

The only way to '"loose" a mech is to sell it yourselfe.

Second:

The game is completly instanced.. and fights only. Theres no world to free roam. If you want a good example of how this will play out take a look at World of Tanks... exactly the same system. Wich means that if you train no one is randomly comming in and blow you to pieces.

On that note: World of Tanks has a training mode where you can invite people to play a game or two without any influence on XP gain and money gain/loss. So i guess its not to far off to guess that MWO will have a similiar system in place. Especialy since MEchwarrior is alot more Complex then WoT will ever be

We don't know if mechs will be somethign you can sell yourself. It's not a feature in many F2P games to sell equipment as it can lead to competition with the company making the game, as well as gamefarming (ie people playign the game for profit)

That said, I do hope there is a way to setup a fight between groups of specific people, so that tournaments can happen / teams that know each other can practice battling each other, rather than pub stomps with the occasional lucky team match up.

I'm sure there will be.

As with many areas of MWO, we simply have no information on the current implementations of these features in the game. I would be jaw-on-the-floor surprised if the game came out without a form of local training that allowed you to get familiar with operating a Mech and/or doing training at no cost/benefit to you.

As would I. Seems it wouldn't be tough to take their sandbox used for checking Mech motion mechanics, weapon convergence, etc and pretty it up just a bit. A "sparse" testing area with a few targets scattered around should do the trick for most people.

I bet the devs have some sort of practice server for units looking to practice, and later for clans to do their TOE.

I hope they do allow us somewhere to train up a little. It would suck if the first time you pilot your mech is in your first match, and that fight effects your xp and skill tree. In other threads it was discussed about using solaris 7 or 1 academy from each faction as your training boot camp.
