I was thinking about this, with the opening of beta for everyone. There are a lot of good players and some REALLY good players, those who just seem to be naturals (and perpetually lucky with their shot placements). :P

HOWEVER, there will be average and below average pilots who Piranha will want to retain in the game. If they end up in only PvP matches and have a low kill/death ratio (KDR), they'll start getting discouraged and drifting away from the game to other, greener pastures. After all, why keep signing in if you just become cannon fodder the majority of the time? This may cost the game a significant portion of the playerbase over a relatively short time.

The solution...PvE. Players can run missions against NPC units, accomplish objectives, and gain valuable experience and resources. That way, when they DO go into a PvP battle, they can feel more comfortable and the loss won't hurt so much if they're basically used for target practice.

We don't want a bunch of Wilson's Hussars units running around. If we end up with that, the players won't be around very long.

Thoughts?

I just don't think it fits in the world they're building. I would love to see a Solaris or something implemented that allowed new players to play against other new players until they gained enough exp/money to graduate though. Just somethign that ensures they have a way to learn without getting steamrolled.

Actually, the devs -have- said they were looking into ways to do PvE within the framework of the game. I'm just pointing out the advantages of having it sooner than later. Once players drift away, it takes a lot more effort to get them to come back and some never do.

I think it COULD be cool. If they did it right. It could be used as an easy way to get CB's and then go back to PvP to demolish people. And if they wasted a a lot of time on it and barely any body used it (or as they were anticipating) then we would be a few weeks/months behind on something else we could have done. And with Clans coming up and bugs to be worked out. It would be nice to see it but not anytime in the NEAR future. But it would be nice to work towards that route and make this game maybe not so much just a WoT random match/Clan game. Maybe add story to it besides the clans or something. You catch my drift?

Absolutely... That's actually the perfect way to impliment it. Everytime a unit has a specific contract (for mercs) or assignment (for House units), there's garrison duty which would come with incursions or full-blown attacks by enemy units. There's escort/guard duty which involves protecting allied forces or resources. There's raiding which includes planning and executing small-scale snatch-and-grab actions. The possibilities are out there and they would all help flesh out the game universe and give non-PvP-oriented players a reason to play the game.
