For various personal reasons I'm not able to play with sound or headphones most of the time. I've tried to stick it out with pugs since I started CB back in August, but now that OB is here I've given up because 75% of pilots won't even acknowledge that the chat exists. Are there units out there for people who don't use voice? There must be hearing-impaired people who enjoy giant robots, eh? Can I join you?

Looking for a unit that doesn't use voice

Please feel free to join the Ghost Warriors Brigade. We DO use voice coms, but can easily accommodate you.

Thanks TripleHex, I'll be in touch. Just out of curiosity, are there really no units for hearing impaired players? That would surprise me...

The issue Atma is that the game doesn't appear to support macros yet, so you'd be limited to commands from the commander of your group, which might not be as informational as you might want.

Depends on how you're doing your macros.
My mouse and keyboard macros work just fine in game.

I'm in the Ghost Warriors Brigade with TripleHex, and it's not uncommon for players to just type out responses instead of using a microphone. Heck, when I first joined GWB, I didn't even have a mic for the first week and it was fine.

Actually, there may be. The Arrow to the Knee Brigade on the No Guts No Galaxy TS server is disabled-gamer specific, I believe.

Are you hearing impaired in some way, or is there a technical or some other issue that prevents you from using sound to communicate in game?

Let's call it a logistical issue involving a small living space and people who are trying to sleep.Either way, I can either play with the sound off or not play at all most of the time.

OK, that makes sense.
Not being able to talk due to living space/conditions is one thing.
We have a few members with that issue, and they simply don't talk a lot.
I'd think that a good pair of headphones would solve most of this.

It would, but it's hard to look after young children at night if you can't hear them.
