well
this has happened because you either used the white gold or it was luck
because if you listen to all the garbage spewers around here, trial mechs are lame and useless and do nothing but overheat

seriously tho, its nice to see the new players stepping it up
trial mechs are for learning in and your obviously doing just that

Well I was a closed beta tester. I've had a little luck with the Dragon and Awesome. I had hardly tried the Centurion when I went and got this amazing streak.

Anyone had luck with the Raven?

I've scouted successfully with the Raven, never used the LL though.

Just because I can curb stomp players worse than me with a trial mech doesn't make the trial mech good. Take a trial up against an equivalently skilled player in a customized mech and you die more often than not. The two are not in the same league and should not be matched against each other.

are trial mechs unrefined? - Yes

Can a skilled pilot over come such unrefinement? - Yes

and a skilled pilot using wacky builds like ssrm cats/ Gauss cats get the better of you? - Yes

i was in closed beta never dropped money into this game and really before the economy patch took me 1 hour 30 minutes to get into a hunch-4p. the grind has only gotten worse from there. the problem people are running into are the fact that experiance pilots who have different tactics then the trial mechs are forced to play an underperforming mech against some times 8 skilled/broken mech setups against you and your 7 other "teammates". trial mechs can function great if you can controll them. heck i took an atlas out with the trial raven! * course he was half dead* but still. it all comes down to how well you can pilot the tools given.

I did the same thing just today with a Trial Centurion. And yes, all of the trial mechs are absolute horrible heat wise. I wish they would go back and revisit some of the builds. The awesome is ok for LRM'ing but the raven and the dragon are complete jokes when it comes to heat....

I have been playing Trial Mechs for the CBills because its faster then paying a repair bill. Lol. Does that make me a bad founder?

Devs found a long-standing heat issue while fixing DHS. Both will be fixed on the 6th. They said to expect a big change, so let's wait and see.

Not exactly the same league no, but they are close...

the problem was the fact that it's in fact harder to use a Trial mech as the players have to be adept at handling all the weapon suite on the mech often arrayed for all range, and they must know how to use it effectively.

a knowledge which new players do not have, nor can they learn to acquire without getting vaporized in PvP... which is the REAL problem.

Put 2 skilled players together that know each respective mech, one with custom mech and 1 with trial mech, and assuming the map does not inherently favor one mech or the other and the 2 will come out with result close to even.

every non- configered Mech has its disadvantages - not enough Ammo/Heatsinks/Speed - no AMS

but they are BT- Canon :)

I have to say the Dragon is not too bad in fact. Heat management is really easy on this one for anyone that know what it is about. Plus with its 300 engine it runs at 81km/h which is super cool because you can learn how to move around on the map and most of all learn how to fight while moving.
I do agree though that we should be able to experience the mech lab before buying our first mech.
