I was talking with several of the guys from my Unit and an idea was tossed around that we feel would limit or remove the "AFKers" and suicider/farmer types. If the devs removed all the "free" c-bills and exp from matches (meaning no 100k c-bill and 300 exp for winning or whatever) and instead increased (slightly to remain roughly the same as current rewards) the c-bills and exp from things like doing damage, spotting ect. If this was done, than those who join a match and don't move or contribute in anyway would get 0, while those of use doing the damage and spotting and killing would get (on average) the same as we currently get without a major change to detecting afkers and people trying to beat the system.

Overall, I feel that if there are rewards for showing up, your going to get people who show up and do nothing. Remove the show-up rewards and you remove the ability for people to "farm" by doing nothing.

Feel free to discuss this idea. I have no issues with constructive critizim.

The problem with this is that bad players (and everyone starts out bad) would be unable to even repair their mech, let alone save up for anything, if all benefits were performance based. This would significantly stratify the player base; veteran players would get more cash, rewards, etc while new players got jack.

Instead, I would recommend a sliding scale. Like an MMO; you start out with no penalties for death. As you gain levels, the penalties slowly mount, and you need to get better or you cost yourself gold/xp/etc.

New players would have the current system, with 70% of the income a flat fee. After 50 matches, the metrics start changing. By 200 matches, you get nothing for a loss except your performance bonuses, Even the flat bonus for a win would be overshadowed by the performance metrics. This will prevent veterans from AFK or suicide farming, without penalizing new players significantly. Obviously the numbers and specifics could be tweaked; for example, the scale could be based on MMR rather than games played if they track that.

I understand your concern about "bad" players, but even bad players can make money and it promotes skill rather than showing up. Damage right now gives 10 c-bills per point of damage. if they made it 15 or 20, that would give more c-bills than current. you get 2k c-bills for spotting per LRM boat. If you spot (anyone can spot, not just lights) you can make good money. Capping gives a nice bonus and this is all current. I am suggesting that each of these get a boost at the cost of removing the flat c-bill bonus for winning/losing. I believe that even bad players can make good money if they actually apply themselves. if they join a unit and work with a team they can make more as focusing fire and using a voice chat will make these better. Thanx for the feed back and I hope this explains it a little better.

while i´d agree to the "motivation to do things" part, i also have to agree with the concerns about pilots that don´t do the major part ... some supporters are just there to backup the mainforce, to jump into fire in critical moments and so on... there are many scenarios imaginable where some ppl just don´t earn, even if they did their part to win the match... some tactics are not trackable with numbers...

while the suggested model is generally a good thing, it brings up other problems with it... for example, there is already lots of this "i am rambo, i am at the frontline and take them all" mentality... this could be even more encouraged, and make the game even more a zergrush... and i guess there are more issues to come up, if you think more about it...

i agree though, there are several things that should be more rewarded than just kills^^

I dont care how bad you are....after a few matches you will be able to repair your mech. you can always take a trial mech if you need cbills, and even if you suck horribly you will do damage if your doing something.

its a problem right now because premades are walking all over PUGS, with many many of those pugs being first timers with hardly a clue of what to do until 120 LRMS pound their face and they die.

Once ranking & matchmaking is in the game, this will even out and then there will be no excuses for afking etc, and going to a performance based pay model should be just fine. Trial mechs can always be a fallback if you need a little coin for a match or 2.

taking your own mech over a trial could pay a little better to make up for the difference lost on repairs.

mainly damage, spotting, kills, Salvage and stuff like bonus pay for comebacks, getting kills when behind 7-0 etc, would really help encourage better game play & good performance, not just afking for cash.

Damage is vital scoring....you can get a kill with 1 small laser and never do any other damage, focusing more on the damage for points would be nice. however, given how lrms outdaamage everything else by nature of their spread, this would need to be counterbalanced with effective damage (ie CT coring VS other damage)
