Everyone knows that trial mechs are less than ideal but that is really the point. They are free mechs that one can play to grab some C-bills (without repairing!) and try out the various chassis and weight classes. However, I would like to propose that trial mechs provide an invaluable service for new players specifically because they are so lackluster and that is heat management. Managing one’s heat is an integral part of this game, so being able to properly manage your heat in a trial mech is great training that will come in handy when you are able to afford a customizable mech. Oh, and did I mention they were free? I would like to hear some other positive aspects from the community concerning trial mechs.

I like how you turned the horrible heat management in trial mechs into a positive thing. Now if only the casual gamer would think that way

I've mentioned before that a player who doesn't bother to learn anything about the game in a trial mech is going to suck just as bad in a "tricked out" custom mech, but alas most seem to think that MWO is like many other F2P games where the player is the sum of the $$$ cost of their equipment, and not their ability.

It also gives them the free time to figure out now to use weapon groups without monetary loss, and how to work you torso and feet. This is a big one.

I approve of this message (election season ya know ;P). Great outlook and I think most of this is intended by design as solid training in piloting a battle mech.
