They got some other details right, though. I noticed the Titan/Atlas flub, too (someone's confusing their mythology!)
These items stuck out to me:

Water will also cool your mech's heat level if you strategically place your heatsinks on your legs, and can make the difference if you're fighting on a world with many shallow bodies of water.

How a mech looks matters, too, because what you see is what you get. As fans have come to expect, every mech is extremely customizable, with adaptable weapon loadouts and accessories to suit different play styles. If you're fighting a Hunchback with an autocannon jutting out of its shoulder, you'll be able to tell just by looking at it. What's more, you can then target specific parts of that mech in order to blast away that troublesome limb and all its armaments.
On the flip side this means that placing your weapons and accessories on specific parts of your body makes a huge difference. The reason for this is due to the fact that your arms can aim and fire independently of the rest of your mech.
These seem to suggest three things:
- Heat sink cooling in water is going to be a more detailed affair, not just wading in up to your ankles and dumping massive heat.
- We will have a large degree of customization (in terms of assigning and locating weapons and equipment, at least.)
- 'Mech appearance wil change depending on where equipment is located.
Of course, after the Titan/Atlas goof-up, I am lead to question the rest of the article, but those seem like some clear hints towards what we can expect to see from the mechlab.
