I have always liked the different things in games. That special snowflake syndrome (even though your not) and wacky builds always let me have more fun than cookie cutter 6sl jenners, gausscats, streakcats, ect. Basically anything spammed (usually because of superior effectiveness) turns me away. Take the mech I threw money at yesterday to make even more worthless than its stock setup:

Cicada 3c
downgraded engine to standard 100, saved like 24 tons, movement is now 40.5kph, 8 slower than a fatlas.
reduced armor to 125 all around
increased the heat sinks to double.
switched internals to endo steel for a whopping 2 tons savings.
took all the weapons out, added 4x AC 2
3 tons of ammo

I play it like a semi immobile anti aircraft turret. On game launch I go up to the top of a hill and just stand there plinking away usually until I die or run out of ammo. You would be shocked at how long a non LRM boat can stay motionless and not be picked on. Those contrails from the lrm boats are what get em killed. Heck I have powered down before when everyone else on the team was dead, and been ignored or mistaken for a downed mech. Even had 2 games just time out, for some reason the other team just wouldnt take the easy base cap for even more money. But if they are that bloodthirsty they can waste their time i guess.

Anyway the problem is builds like this one do almost nothing for your team. In 20 games with it I got 3 kills, and one solo kill. However from my vantage point and given the range on ac 2 I got almost 50 kill asists lol. I do feel dirty for being semi worthless to the team though. The stock version with ppc and 2 machineguns can at least scout or be a backlines squirrell to chase.

Dont be afraid to experiment with wacky builds I supose is my point. And you can get a few good laughs at the beginning of the game by announcing "attention other team, I have managed to cram 4x ac 2 into a cicada, prepare to be trolled".

I was loving my ERPPC commando last night.

Except on caustic, lol.

Had a couple matches where I managed to stay alive and get a couple hundred damage and a few kills out of it, average was like 50-90 though, so not a big help. Lots of assists. Lots of spotting bonuses because I had to keep things in LOS.

The bad part was I had a couple games with less than 20 damage, A jenner gets near me and I basically just popped.

Winning and Tactics have gone right out the window with the NetCode/Hit Detection, Weapon balancing issues and the biggest of all Collision being removed. It's about grinding out matches in Mek configurations that render positive C-Bill gain no matter if a loss or a win.

Don't even get me started about the AFK'rs in Trial Mek's or the horrible Trial Mek configurations that PGI put forth. Add on top of that when people drop in the Trial Awesome and then is countered with a Pimped out Atlas and the combat effectiveness in team vs team becomes a complete joke.

For me it's all about the C-bills, stats mean nothing anymore now that we are in OB and there are no more resets.

I like running an LRM 20 Raven boat with Tag. Also Ravens work well as PPC/Gauss mounts walking turrets. You aren't having fun losing, you are having fun tweaking your mech loadout to unusual configurations and testing their effectiveness. Part of what makes mech warrior great.

True, losing all the time isnt fun. Mabye I look at it more relaxed when I rationalize it as losing because of a joke build.
