Weapons (*-denotes a damn rare weapon, only recently in production)

ENERGY:
small laser
medium laser
large laser
small pulse laser*
medium pulse laser*
large pulse laser*
extended-range large laser*
PPC
extended-range PPC*
flamer

BALLISTIC:
machine gun
autocannon/2
autocannon/5
autocannon/10
autocannon/20
Lubalin autocannon/10, aka LB/10-X*
Ultra AC/5*
Gauss Rifle*

MISSILE:
SRM-2
SRM-4
SRM-6
Streak SRM-2*
LRM-5
LRM-10
LRM-15
LRM-20
inferno SRM ammo (not rare, actually)
torpedo SRM/LRM ammo (not rare, either, but not usually needed)

Other new systems just becoming available:
Arrow IV Missile Artillery
Artemis IV fire control system
Beagle Active Probe
Guardian ECM
Target Acquisition Gear
Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment (CASE)
Ferro-Fibrous Armor
EndoSteel frames (not an upgrade, you have to build a new mech from scratch with this)
Extralight Fusion Engines

I won't get into Mechs at this time, but 95% of the current crop are non-upgraded. There is no Clan gear, because who ever heard of munchy uber-warriors outside of the Immortal Warrior holovids?

IntroTech is widespread:

Lasers (Small, Medium, and Large)
PPC
Machine Gun
Flamer (Standard and Vehicle)
Autocannons (2, 5, 10, and 20)
LRM's (5, 10, 15, and 20 + One Shot versions)
SRM's (2, 4, and 6+ One Shot versions)
Heat Sinks
Standard Armor
Standard Internals
Standard Fusion Engines

This started coming into play around 3049 (NOT WIDESPREAD like everyone seems to think):

ER Large Laser
Pulse Lasers (Small, Medium, and Large)
ER PPC
LB 10-X AC
Ultra AC 5
Streak SRM-2
Artemis IV FCS
Guardian ECM Suite
Beagle Active Probe
AMS
CASE
Endo Steel Internals
Ferro Fibrous Armor
XL Engines
Double Heat Sinks

May have missed something... all this is off the top of my head.

3049 tech is basicly the peak in innersphere discovery of old lost tech and creation of new mechs before the clans invade.

Tech such as guass rifles and Streak SRM 2 by the Free Worlds League
ECM and MASC by the Cappies
Ultra AC/5 and MASC Double Heat sinks by the Federated Suns
ER Large lasers and Double heat sinks by the Dracs
Lyrans the XL fusion engine

Im recalling this on the top of my head so one of those could be wrong.

I also recall Pulse lasers were rediscovered at this time

Mechs at this time get refits with new weapons like the Centurion CN9-A with the A/C10, LRM10, and 2 medium lasers to CN9-D with a LBX-10, LRM10 with Artemis, 2 medium lasers and a XL engine.

Though in my opinion a bad refit.

While alot of other mechs such as the Wolverine with the WVR-6K to 7K model.

This mech actually sees a huge improvement going from 1 large laser, 2 medium lasers, and 1 small laser with the WVR-6K

The upgraded WVR-7K gets 1 Large pulse laser, 1 medium pulse laser, 1 small pulse laser and 2 SRM6's, goes from a standard engine to a XL, gets 2 more tons of armor, and double heat sinks.

As others have pointed out, Star League stuff is being rediscovered and implemented by 3049, but by and large most mechs you see will still be Succession Wars fits.

I think i know where you got it. In the first Warrior book, Justin Allard swaps his centurion's Pontiac model autocannon for one made by Luxor Ballistcs. I actually thought for years that was what LB stood for.

Take a look through Technical Readouts 3025 & 3039. TRO 3025 is probably the best place to start your research. It will have the basic Mechs variants that we start with. Any standard Lostech upgrades would be in TRO 3039.

I have always prefered tech lev 1 weapons myself. Just because something is new does not always make it better. ER weapons can be fine but they put out alot more heat, you might be better off adding anouther standard weapon instead. Pulse weapons will depend on how they implement then in this game, heavier shorter range more heat in exchange for some more damage again using additional convential weapons may work just as well. lb10x autocannon with standard ammo is a clear improvement never liked the shotgun ammo myself. guass well its the sniper rifle of the game actually may be a bit overpowered. Just my personal likes and preference. Just a note I have never played the multiplayer versions of mechwarrior most of my experience was tabletop and the early games so my experiances are different from many of the more hardcore players.

I kept saying that I wanted Nova really badly but everyone tells me that it doesn't appear until the clans arrive. Are you sure the mechs from MW2 are from 3049?

As of the year 3049 doesnt matter most regular mechs did not have any upgrades, those were reserved for the houses most loyal of troops...

The previous posts have covered the tech available and how common it was, the following are new designs using the new tech that are just now coming into service or beginning production.

Devestator (3048)
Mauler (3048)
Zeus 9S (3048)
Axman (3048)

Charger 3K (3049)
Caesar (3049)

There are also some upgrades that were probably ready to go as well but it is harder to identify these. I suspect that the Grand Dragon 5K was just beginning to come online, and that the Hatamoto-CHi upgrade was available as well but there are no firm release dates for these.

Worth noting is that much of this technology started coming back into the fold when the Helm core was discovered, which I know was before 3030. That info was shared with all the factions.

The 3049 technologies started coming into play in a prototypical stage by the time the War of 3039 started, and by the time that 3040 rolled around, we were starting to see the very first batches of that star league tech coming back...

The only thing is that, like other folks have said, it was very rare to come by. Many of the upgrades that we see in Technical Readout 3050 were actually around before the clans arrived, but they were only just being given to the most elite of the armies of the inner sphere. (For example, the Grand Dragon was released well prior to the clan invasion - in 3040)

Mercs would probably have access to them by 3049, but they still wouldn't have trickled down to the black market in enough numbers that they'd be common place. Merc units would likely be paying a premium (Double? Maybe triple?) to get their hands on it, and less prestigious house units would be counting their lucky stars to ever see a double heat sink.

The Nova exists in 3049 (introduced in 2870 actually), the only problem is that it is a Clan 'mech and we won't see clan mechs en masse for another year.
