So following my simpit, the next to on the to-do list is a neurohelmet. Particularly inspired by this effort, I set to work. I was going to copy the design, but in the end decided to start with what I thought would be a better base to work from so I got one of these:

...with the inside looking like this:

The design was inspired by examples such as:

...Now as I worked through this and at each step I was like, "I'll take pics later". And now that it's done it's too late to get any pics of the work-in-progress. :-( However, here is the finished result:

A little more work to do including lining the foam padding with felt to make it a little softer.

Work involved including cutting down the visor area and the mowhawk. Wire up the headphones and mic including 3.5mm to 6.5mm stereo adaptors. Filling with salt and cornstarch dough (Cheap, filled the spaces well and adds a good weight). Coated dough with plastic putty which was sanded down. Paint. Afixing the headphones and mic. Line part of the interior with felt. Glue in foam. More paint touch-up. Decals. More paint touch-up. Lacquer the exterior. Whew. This took as long as my cockpit did. :-(

Next comes the cooling vest.

You might want to build some cooling into that helmet...

That, and maybe the reflectors or Infrared LEDS needed for a TrackIR or Freetrack

Now you need to put one of these in it to really make it a neurohelmet.

I'll do that as soon as MWO has an API for it. :-)
