No lobby. No duels. No Arena. No Filter on Mech class when launching. No Training ground. No Missions. No Tutorial. No option to play with Newbies like me. No Map preview. No Anything helpful!

The whole game is just trying to say to you:"I Hate you! You're not welcome!!!". Last time I've got this feels when I was playing IWannaBeTheGuy. But when u playing IWBTG u know what u are signing for, but this game...I just don't understand it. It's like
"What's the mission, sir?"
"No mission rookie, just kill enemy on your sight!"
"Okay..sir. But what's the point, is it war or what, sir?"
"No point son, just kill enemy on your sight!!"
"Yes,..sir! But how about BattleTech Universe, Clan Wars, Resista.."
"Listen here noob, there are no this sh#t in game, it's exist only in your head & on forums, but when u launch MWO, JUST KILL ENEMY ON YOUR SIGHT!!!"
"Roger that, sir!!!"

Maybe after trial u will unlock..something, I don't know. But now the game look just how it look.

Answers on UltraMegaHardcoreLegendaryElite Veteran's reply/questions:
1. I know how F2P games work, I've played many of them, even in CBT.
2. I"ve read manuals & guides on this forum.
3. I'm familiar with BattleTech Universe, I've played MechWarrior 3 & 4 before.
4. I've never played WoW & WoT. Don't even tryed.

P.S. Sorry for my possible mistakes, I'm not a native english speaker)

Glad to hear how new pilots feel as new pilots are what will make or break this game.

A few points, though. Community warfare and the like hasn't been implemented yet, but it will be.

Honestly at this point, I'm glad it's not implemented. The game is an utter mess right now, we need to focus on testing and fixing what's currently broken with the mechanics before we can even think about community warfare.

Sadly we have no way to test the game out as PGI has essentially launched an unfinished game and called it 'Open Beta'.

Unfortunately this is what we have to work with at this point.

I'm concerned that until they add significantly more scope to the game that it will scare off/frustrate new players, like yourself, or simply not be able to hold peoples attention long enough to keep them.

I'm a long time Mechhead, already a founder, so they have my money and my support, but it's not me they have to impress.

While I don't support comments of the type made by GrimlockONE, I can understand why he said it (many of us are tired of reading the same post by different people all the time), maybe it's something you should do. Leave for awhile, make the Devs aware of your frustration, and come back down the road and hopefully find a more fleshed out Mech Universe.

I try not to overdose on the game, as I did early on in the beta. I visit the forums to get my blood pressure up, and I play for a couple of hours each week, and try to be patient.

Addition by subtraction.
Oh BTW this is how the game will be forever, nothing is being added and there's not even any threads letting you know about these non existant changes. The game is purposely designed to drive away new players and lose the company money. :)
Or there might be more coming and this is the minimally viable product that is in open beta but since you can't be bothered to look around or read anything my opening statement stands.

This is what the game will be for some time. Minor additions notwithstanding.

Play the game as it is and just have fun. Look up the TS servers if you want to drop with some kind of coordinated group. Try the different trial mechs. They are o.k. but you will need your own mech if you want to modify it. Which is rather expansive too and some builds are very costly to maintain.

And btw., the install did not take 2 hours but the complete download, which is done during and after install might. No way this can be circumvented, this is a fat client, not a browser game.

Sounds like you might want to wait for community warfare. No timeframe on it. Given current pace I wouldn't expect to see a fully implemented version of it before spring of 2013, and I think that might be a bit optimistic. Sides that, yep its deathmatch with a couple of capture bases for if you really get bored chasing down the last guy. Not saying thats a good or bad thing, just sort of what it is.

Noob here as well and have to agree that Open Beta was released prematurely. However, I have found the game playable enough to throw some of my hard earned cash its way.

Game is in Beta, so I do expect a lot of issues. But, have not found as many as I would have expected. Of the list provided by the OP, here is what I would have expected; even in beta.

Tutorials / Manuals - Some here, but unorganized and a pain to find the info you seek.
Map Previews - Prefer out of game viewable, so new players can catch up faster on playing field knowledge.

In my opinion, things are running fairly well for a Beta game. Dev's say matchmaking issues are a priority, as it should be. The rest, will fall together in time.

It does make it rough on new players having to learn under fire. Now to contradict myself, I wonder how many would read a manual, if it actually existed.

GG, lots of potential, and looking forward to testing the revisions

I don't think your post deserves being told "Go play another game" but I do believe you need to understand a few things.

1) The game is beta, and somewhere south of 40% done. Open Beta does not denote "Launch" or "Completed Product."

2) The only people I know currently experiencing lag are those with computers under the requirements to handle the game. That being said, as a Beta there could be issues in the code itself that just aren't jiving with your system.

3) If just the install part of your download and install took 2 hours, that is suggesting to me that your computer isn't quite up to par. This game took less than 2 hours full download and install both times I've done the process.
But if you're talking 2 hours from loading up the patcher and clicking the "Patch" button, to the point where you could then select a mech, that's probably just south of average across the whole community.

4) It sounds like you put some actual thought into your post, and although I suggest you spend your first several posts ASKING for help next time in order to get answers, I can appreciate that you at least put some real honest-to-god thought into your post.

To elaborate on my post.

Yes I am tired of hearing whining and complaining.

The main thing new players need to understand is that this is not COD, Halo, Counter Strike. The individual can not turn the tide nor rescue a whole team from defeat. It takes a group of players working as a team to win and be successful. Once that is understood then frustration for the new player will be lessened. Hell, when I PuG I understand that I am more than likely going to lose. I lose the frustration because I accept my fate. If you want to win then group up, communicate, and dominate.

If you want CoD style mech game. Go play Hawken. Wonderful game...not Mechwarrior...you can win a match without communication. If you want a team based game that rewards group play. Stick with MWO

You better read the opening post again. He didn't complain about any of those, but mentioned pretty basic things he is missing. Which should have been in the game when going open beta. How is it, that you have to assume he wants another COD after reading his post? :P

Look, I'm not complaining, whining, crying, etc about gameplay. The control & gameplay are fine, it's even easier than was in previous MechWarrior game. I'm complaining about game itself, cause it's not a OBT, it's just alpha project where u can drive Mech & shoot in other players, that's all. The worst part is that it will remain as it is. I know what I'm talking about, I've seen it before in other games, where dev promised us about whole new content and then...nothing happened. Just a buff/nerf, new maps, new units & other minor changes.

Can someone explain me why is that game calling MechWarrior itself? Cause u can drive a mech? You can drive it in other bunch of games like Armored Core & others.
Maybe it's because of famous Mech's, like Atlas or Mad Cat? Really? Is that really make your ***** grow game cool? Yeah, I'm really proud to see another noobdriving Atlas, running into middle of battlefield & dying here or get stuck inbetween rocks. Or seeing Yen-Lo-Wang, who asking how to launch missiles or shoot lasers. Isn't it shameful? Isn't mech's like Yen-Lo-Wang should be the prize of some kind of tournament & the real skillful winner should drive it? But no, game business model doesn't work like that, so any rich noob can buy it. facepalm.jpg
This game could be called "Gundam XYZ DeathMatch" and then fall into oblivion. But no, it's called MW, so people play it. Call me oldfag, but I'm really miss the time when game has the title cause the people played it, not the people played it because of title.

I know, many of you like this game as it is. I wanna ask you - Why u like it? or What are u have fun of? Cause I don't get it. Driving familiar mech & shooting other people don't make me fun. For me BattleTech Universe was always about Clan Wars, Rebels, Civil Wars, Mech duels & other stuff. I've seen enough 8v8 duels in my life to get tired of it. Let me ask you straight - r u really so naive to believe in MWO gamdev promising future? I've seen enough GD promising in GameIndustry. Non of this promising was truth. If the GD really hard work, they don't promise, they do. But if they lazy - they promise, just to make sure u buy it.

And why the game hate a newcomers so much? U know, maybe without noobs world will be better. But if there will be no noobs, where are veterans will coming from? And who will call them a Veteran? Another Veteran's? Don't be ridiculous. Maybe u get fun of making matches between wellexp players, but sooner or later u'll get tire of it. The game itself is just like "Welcome BattleTech fans! Newcomers - get lost!!!". About 5% of newcomers will stay, others will leave(

I don't expect any big changes even after half year from now, cause they won't be. I WANT TO MISTAKE, I realy want, so I will check the news sometimes.

BTW, my comp is fine, I've played Crysis & Battlefield 3 on High and don't get any lowfps. I'm just was suprised why GD not updated client, so u have to install & download all patches :/

I repeat my VeteranAnswers to those Founders, who doesn't read them:
1. 2The Phigment: I know what the OBT is. I've played many of them. U see, when the OBT exceeds your expectations - it shows how the company hard working & love community. When the OBT a really far from your expectations - it's alpha & nothing gonna changing
2. 2GrimlockONE: I know how painful to talk with noobs, buddy. I know it, cause I'm wellexp player. I started playing on the computer, even when there was no Windows, just a pure DOS :) Could u imagine this?) Just a Doom, Carmageddon, WingCommander & so on. I hate Halo, CoD, CS & other pop-soap. I'm just see how Mech's going into another pop-soap money making machine, so that's frustrating me!

P.S. Don't wanna harm GD or anyone from community. It's just my thoughts, nothing else)

Since I have made exactly 1 post so far in a thread and that thread was already deleted, I'll just have to repost in here.

I'm a newbie to MWO. Not to MechWarrior, as it was the first computer game I ever played online, before Quake or any FPS or MMO. I have played a grand total of 1 match. The graphics looked terrible. I don't know why modern games all have post-processing, film grain and a host of other "features" that only make the graphics look blurry, foggy and generally worse than when they are disabled. Only problem is in MWO you can't disable them, so the game always looks terrible. After one match in a foggy blizzard, I was left asking "This is fun? I can't even see." The one thing I could see was swarms of LRMs pelting me from unseen attackers on the other side of a mountain.

Also, is this a beta or not? The game says beta, but it seems the company is treating it as if it has been launched. Alpha, Beta, Kappa, Gamma - I don't care what you call it, it means the game is not really the game that will be launched yet. Everything gets reset before the real game is launched. If this is actually a Beta, then I'm not really upset. It only took one match to scare me off, but it isn't finished yet. I'll check back. If this is really a release like it seems, then this is just one more game that should not have come out. SWTOR was the last game I will ever pay to beta test, post-release, or even play if the studio has no standards and releases an incomplete game.

I think much of the anger on here is not just about this game. Much of it is general anger at the industry who keeps throwing out any old crap and expects us to buy it. The game companies keep getting scolded and given probation. After the 100th repeat-offense you have to start looking towards the death penalty. I don't buy EA games anymore and I don't play any game that is "released" in beta condition, even once they fixed it.

One more newbie here, probably gone for good. I'm sure that will make you sad, lol. Thanks ahead of time for the warm departing wishes I am sure to receive.

I have had many of the same thoughts as the OP since starting to play. I really hope that "Open Beta" does not mean released since as it stands this isn't even on par with some mods that exist much less a complete game. No chat channels, only 4 maps, one game mode and no matchmaking or ladders doesn't make for a game with staying power. I want to fight for a nation and gain respect/influence/power/land etc, not endlessly grind C-Bills for I can buy upgrades/mechs/ammo so I can grind more C-bills for upgrades/mechs/ammo ad nausem on the same maps and game mode. I want this game to succeed and grow which is why I have payed for premium time, but as it stands I just don't see it making it long enough to see the content that drew my interest in the first place.

I understand that there are TS servers available and I plan on using them eventually. But it is hard to find an outfit or make friends when you can't talk to anyone without going outside the game.
