I wonder if they have a dude at PGI that works on weapon balance. I bet it`s the same dude who makes custom skins for MC-only mechs and MC-decals and paintjobs.
He`s been busy lately, no time to put numbers in ITEMSTATS.XML

Hey everyone! Look at our release schedule! (p.s. its tentative) - then proceeds to fail to meet 90% of all established dates.

Hey guys! this will NEVER be pay2win! - then proceeds to make an MC only mech (though its a bad mech... still) implements a store before any resemblance of a playable game, and proceeds to make a painful grind in oven-mechs that cant shoot more than once without overheating (slight exaggeration here).

PGI wouldnt be the first company to lie through its teeth because it saw more money in an area that it promised to never venture into. *cough battlefield heroes*

They just need to keep their delivery close enough to avoid a class-action lawsuit for fraud and theyre golden.

How is a bad mech pay to win? if everyone ran around in YLWs they'd lose easily.

It`s not Pay 2 Win, it`s Pay 2 Wang!

Back on topic:

Will any one of you use 1.4x Heatsinks? They might be useful for mechs with 250+ engines and only 10 heat sinks, for example Jenners, GaussDragons and Gausscats?

PS: It`s actually funny that DHS will make the Gauss even more OP, since Gausscats will be able to shoot more medium lasers :-)

Op is correct And the changes to DHS and the nerf to lasers are going to make all energy builds obsolete.

Im totally in favor of better energy weapons because right now they are literally unplayable if ER is anywhere near their name and compared to the big autocannons, the only big energy weapon you can operate somewhat safely is the large laser.

i dont want to accuse anything, but i have a slight suspicion that the devs are pushing the weapons with ammo consumption for a purpose and that is a harder, longer grind so you have to get Premium to advance faster and not run broke because the ammo costs consumed a big chunk of your entire income after a match.

I really like this game but pls buff the energy weapons with lesser heat a more diverse game is a better game i already have a winning formula and its ballistic weapons the reason im still using lasers is because i like them but the good ones are unplayable since you cant get enough heatsinks into the chassis to use them and be on par with other builds neither with DHS or SHS

People are aware that just because a weapon has reloaded, doesn't mean it needs to be instantly fired again, right?

No, apparently people do not understand this.

This is why DPS does not mean anything in MWO, unlike tabletop. It's also why most folks' analysis of the game are inherently flawed.

LRM boats, and Gauss cats disagree.

Maybe they are preparing the game for gold ammo?

That's a good reason to push missiles and ballistics!

You are aware that you still have to deal over 100 points of damage to an Atlas to core him, and while you are firing at him, he may fire back, and if you have less or the same amount of armour, you really want to deal damage to him faster than he does to you, right?

Gold ammo? Why not gold laser? You can say its powered by electromagnets so it generates no heat!

Gold Crystals.
Crystals laced with gold for higher conductivity, leading to better beam cohesion and overall a 50 % reduction in heat. But only work for 50 shots, afterwards the gold is evaporated and the crystal works like a normal one.

I agree with an idea to have sinks vent the heat in say 4 seconds. A little longer than the averag cycle time of most weapons, so we would still generate heat but not as much as we do now. 28 sinks should keep a gauss and ER PPC firing with no build up per turn. Thus a heat turn is to long.

Golden armor.

So shiny that any pilot that tries to look at you during the day goes blind!

You throw out a lot of personal insults when confronted with facts.

Like when I confronted your math on a 30 damage 29 heat in ten seconds PPC not taking into account the doubled thickness of armor per ton meaning double the heat to get through it.

Stop with the ad hominem and bring better math to the argument next time.

When one weapon can fire every time it reloads for 2 HS, and another weapond can do the same for 30 HS, (EDIT: and the weapons have comparable damage and recycle times), then the first weapon is undeniably better because it can fire more often for less tonnage. Thats DPS.

Also, if DPS didn't mean anything, then you'd see 4xPPC K2s instead of 2xGR K2s, as the 4xPPC K2 has a 25% bigger alpha.

If DPS didn't mean anything, then why does the UAC5 exist?
