Hey guys,
Looking at the posts and it is clear that the main issue here is being missed. Tweaking damage output is not the answer and shouldn't be attempted until all other aspects of the game are in place. Namely ECM and other counter measures.
With that in mind lets try think of other ways we can help the development cycle. I personally think that more focus needs to be put on the stability of the client.
Your thoughts?

Lrm's And Artemis. Damage Reduction Is Not The Answer.

The latest patch (yesterday) changed LRM arcs substantially - something that was not noted in the patch notes. Can you confirm if this was a bug, or if this is intended LRM behavior? If it is intended, what is the counter supposed to be? Cover - even tall buildings or cliffs - is no longer effective in stopping incoming missiles as they simply fly over and then straight down on top of mechs.Edit

Bug. Got past our process, a failure. That is why Open Beta is so important we need to perfect our processes with a large player base. This should be hot fixed very soon.Edit

Now that they're going to hot fix it, we can see if Artemis is truly balanced or not, and then work from there.
Personally, I still feel like LRMs could be docked about .2 damage. They were brutal last patch, and Artemis makes them more so, we just can't actually gauge it properly yet due to the insane arcs insta-killing mechs from head shots.

There is absolutely no reason guns can't be adjusted before equipment is introduced, then adjusted later with the new equipment. It's laughable to argue that valid data is being gleaned from the game where the weapon is common but the counter isn't even in the game, much less restricted by basis of cost or mounting restrictions. A hotfix to halve LRM damage until ECM is available would make the game much more pleasant.

I'm finding stability improving every patch, I've rarely been subject to a lot of the problems many users have had...this last patch alone improved my FPS by about 15-20% (according to fraps...I've taken to benchmarking things since the Atlas death atrocity). There's still a way to go, still suffering from the occasional warping Jenner syndrome, but apart from a hiccup a few patches back, I feel things are improving nicely.
As for the Artemis issue, not really suffering from it, I'm sure ECM will be along in it's own good time to stop people crying

I am aware of this.

This is so true. In order to get a zero line you need to get to zero first.

Totally agree, the stability has improved but I still get random crashes that just close the client.
I am a firm believer that all game mechanics should be in place before a large amount of tweaking happens. Rather then do that the focus should be on content generation and getting it in game.

Here's your Brutal LRMs + Artemis. I think it's ridiculous that I was even able to put out so much damage and so consistently. In 3 hours of game time I made over 40k exp, and upon discovering the 75% free repair/rearm, I added a couple more tonnes ammo and don't even bother re-arming making 4 mill C-Bills in 2 hours.
The game needs drastic changes and fast.
