As the only Mech capable of running 6 Missile slots it's unique and should not be removed. If you're worried about Streak Cats I suspect they'll become less of a threat with the introduction of ECM. Even without ECM, Streak Cats are very limited in what they can do... eg. Stay further than 270m away and you can chew them up without risk.

PS. I didn't vote as I didn't like the extra bits you added. I would have voted "No, don't remove the A1"

PPS. Yes I read your note about no discussion about the streak cat, but your post is almost certainly about your love/hate of the variant.

SRM6 cats can't fire more than 3 alphas, LRM5 cats have no more alpha than a dual LRM15 cat, SSRM cats are the only source of imbalance right now and streaks themselves are getting their damage spread out over the entire mech (currently only hits torso area).

This is a non issue after the patch rolls in, so quit worrying about it.

A -smart- mechwarrior will vary their loadout.

IMO it should have it's missile hardpoints reduced and all catapults should have their ridiculous owl neck torso twists nerfed hard.

Thanks for the hint.
I modified the choices, because i really want just tendencies and no valuation of the config

I think PGI has set a precedent with the removal of the Centurion AH. It's one where they have the right to remove canon mechs at a whim.

The Centurion AH was and still is mentioned as a variant in every canon Technical Readout 3025 & 3039.

The Catapult A1 had no mention in the initial TRO 3025, did have a Record sheet in Heavy Mechs, and is mentioned in TRO: 3039.

I do think they have to look at how having 6 missile slots affects their intentions regarding boating. Given that LRMs go from 5-20, are 6 needed? If you only need 4, then the C4 can manage it. Should 6 SRMs be permitted in game? Another question, where the canon says yes (Arctic Wolf). This is up to PGI.

One alternative is the Catapult with Arrow IV if they implement it replacing the A1. That at least would be consistent with how the Centurion was treated. They can delay it as there are 3 Catapult variants in the game so people can advance them, unlike the Centurion when they pulled the AH (unless you bought YLW).

People are going to be themselves. You will always have tryhards. Outright banning of variants because of certain configs is pointless because there will always be the A+ configuration for loadouts.

Instead of complaining about people using certain loadouts, the best you can do is smile and shake your head in pity at the people who lack the ********** fortitude to try anything but the overpowered stuff. You wont ever get through to them, just learn to deal with the tryhards. They have been in every form of game since the creation of games.

I agree with @dervishx5 - banning variants isn't the solution. The problem with this approach is that it won't stop with the A1 - it will inevitably cascade to other mechs that are considered OP.

re: A1 - let's see what the impact of ECM this Dec 4 will have, that's not too long off :D

Given that mechs within 180m of an enemy ECM in Disrupt mode can not achieve a missile lock, I think we're going to see fewer Streaks after Tuesday so for now, I see no reason to interfere with the A1.

What if the A1 is actually the test platform for an upcoming hero Catapault?

I think that may have just guaranteed its removal from the game.

Yeah they are the only Mech that can beat easymode Jenners, let's remove them so easyriders have total domination.

Whine whine whine.

The Jenner's OP, the K2's OP.. the 3D's OP, .. I could go on. Whilst a streakcat is a powerful and useful build, changes are coming and frankly I can take it on and kill it with plenty of mechs. Oh wait, there's been a zillion threads of this already, guess it's not ok to post on those ones though, better we have a self righteous indignation poll that's unbalanced and bias and still gets a result of bringing a contray opinion, proving the foolishness of the original idea.

No I don't use a streak cat :D

No, and it will not be no matter what you want or like. It's there and it will be.

What I want, is the removal of 'energy placeholders' from them. They make no sense.

there is irony here.

the CPLT-A1 was originally designed and intended for a 100% long range support role with EXTREME vulnerability at short ranges.

ironically MWO has created a CPLT-A1 that is all-but-invincible at short ranges.

there are plenty of other catapult variants available, i see no issue with replacing the A1 with an alternate variant to remove the streak-boating issue from the game for the time being (it can be re-introduced later once ssrm-balance has been achieved)

I voted No, the only thing I would say needs changing is that it's missile pods should be changed with the C4? That's the one with the biggest ears, makes sense for the A1 to have it as it has the most missile hard points in each. Makes them bigger targets to shoot off at range too.

ECM hasn't entered the game yet and it will be interesting to see what happens when it does.

Also the streak nerf with it's locking onto other mech parts.

Always better you leave the answers simple, so people can make their own mind up.

I still voted no!

Yeah ... ECM will fix it ... right ... It probably will level the field for A1 miauw ... but ... It will sure make Jenners even more invincible than ever .. now they not only will have a LagShield but also ECM to protect them ....b-tiful
Why don't we just scrap aal the other mechs and just allow Jenners and streakcats to be used ... that would work :D hehe
