Trial mechs do not earn xp.

Once you buy one with c-bills or MC, you will get xp.

if you pilot a Trial mech you earn only cbills and no xp.

Thi changes once you pilot your own Mech

If you're using a trial mech you currently do not gain any XP with them.

You don't really earn XP as a pilot, you earn XP on the mech. Since you don't own a trial mech you don't get XP on it. If you buy a Catapult K2, you'll earn XP with it when you use it, but if you use a different Catapult variant after it you will start from zero XP on it again. The only exception is a small amount of earned GXP which can be used to supplement Mech XP or some of the pilot advancement trees that I'm not sure are implemented in the game yet.

Ugh... great way of extending the F2P-slave feeling... oh well...

Guess ill have to play my 30 or so matches to be able to afford a light mech...

Free to play does not mean "Non profit"

Instead of complaining how "unbalanced and unfair the game is for strict F2P players" just buy some damn MC.
Boom problem solved. Now start crying "Well that makes it Pay to Win" and then I say "everything you can buy for MC can be bought with C-Bills. You pay for convenience."
