So i read that 2 same weapons in one spot (both in the arm for example) generate more heat than if they were each in different places of the mech (apparently 1.1-1.6 times more heat).

But my question is this; does it have to be 2 of the exact same weapon like 2x large lasers or is it a broader meaning like 2x any energy weapon? Would fitting 1 large laser and 1 ER large laser put the same heat penalty?

That is just a rumor that has been floating around for something like 6 months. I have yet to see anything like that in game.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I've noticed it too and it is typically fixed by using chain fire. I used to alpha 5 ML and eventually, even iwth with 40 HS, it would cause me to overheat. After chain firing them I'd never overheat.

Ask the Coconut Monkey. He knows all . . he sees all . . .

Sidenote: Anyone up for magic 8 ball in the cockpit? Could give you a different little hint/quote/quip every time the cockpit shakes. :)

You're asking the wrong question; you should ask "is it true that two weapons in one spot generate more heat than if they were in different places?" - the answer is "no, it's not true".

i remember devs trolling about this. exact was "two exactly the same weapons placed in the same part of mech will generate more heat" but i believe this is just trolling since no patchnotes or dev notes have this and ingame effect yet to be seen.

I'd have to go search but in one of the early threads where people had come up with this misconception they said it wasn't the case.

This would seem to be easy enough to test with a Hunchback P.

Put 3 lasers in the shoulder, 3 of the same in seperate locations (arm, head, arm)

Do you get the same heat response from both groups?

This is a myth. I have tested it several times, and whether or not they intend to implement it, it is NOT in the game now. Firing two lasers at the same time in the same place, firing two lasers at the same time in different places, firing individual lasers, firing one laser on each arm and six in the torso, etc., each laser produces the same amount of heat. There is no magic multiplier.
