and add heat based status effects like TT has. i.e. Mobility reduction up to full stop, increased chance of ammo cookoff, hud going fuzzy, decreased torso and arm movement, (insert other effect here).

To me this would just add a bit more depth and variety to the current heat system

Which GRs never get to. While most other builds would. This would in effect nerf everything but GR really.

Everything is not about gauss, i am just tossing the idea around for a more dynamic heat system

I'd lower the heat capacity, introduce heat penalties, and increase heat dissipation.

Not really. The most you can currently carry in Gauss Rifles are 2. It is impossible for a Gauss Rifle thanks to required engine heat sinks to overheat. You would need to be able to carry 5 of them for heat to become ever a problem.

Ultimately, either all the weapons need a serious balance pass, or they need to nerf the Gauss Rifle hard. But that would still leave AC/5, Ultra AC/5 and AC/10 as the next "op" weapon. Because in reality, all the weapons need a serious balance pass.
