The Timberwolf pic is cool, but that is not a Timberwolf IMO, at least from the waist up.
If the redesign goes too far off the original blueprints I will be sorely dissappointed. I would stick with the original design, and just beef up all the joints so they dont look like p i p e cleaners, and probably remove a lot of the rounded armor for something a bit grittier and less elegant.
EDIT: WOW, it has to **** out p i p e?

just looks like a blood asp.
that timber wolf looks awful though.
took a design with a lot of character and destroyed it entirely by just mashing odd shapes together.

I can see how some may not like the design. I thought it was pretty cool though from an updated visual perspective. Still has that gritty feel to it, but it's updated like the difference between a car from the 70's as compared to now. I wonder what this would like modeled and skinned in 3D.
