Are you running Avast by chance? Antivirus program likely has quarantine the updated exe because it thinks it was a potential threat. Check your antivirus program, have it restore the file and to ignore it and/or exclude the MWO game folder from active scans. if you are running standalone, you can also run the MWO repair tool but if the antivirus program is not setup to ignore the game folder, it may happen again until Avast/antivirus program updates their database.

And... you are not posting what, if any steps you have taken since reading this thread. Did you restart the patcher then run the MWO Repair Tool to replace the file? Did it disappear again? Did you check Norton's Quarantine? In Task Manager the patcher itself, where ya can also launch the MWO Repair Tool (upper left corner/3 lines) as MWO Portal. When ya click play, that brings up the game, starting with the log-in screen. The logs itself says the it can not find the specific file to launch the game.
And it doesnt matter if you have had Norton for months. An antivirus detects certain characteristics in the file that could potentially be malicious, even if the game itself is legitimate, often resulting in a "false positive" where the antivirus misidentifies a harmless file as a threat due to factors like complex coding, obfuscation techniques used in game development, or outdated virus signature databases; essentially, the antivirus might flag the file as suspicious because it shares patterns with known malware.
